Not sure I recall this being part of any proposed federal policy. So if some states don’t inform, so what??? Is that the same in your mind as actively encouraging kids to be trans (as the loony tunes right peddled). It’s mind boggling how you guys get activated over these issues over and over again in lockstep.

I could see the argument on notifying parents going either way for high school aged kids. They are protecting the kid from potential dangers at home. Nothing unreasonable about that. Many states give health privacy to 14 or 16 year olds as the cutoff. For younger kids you’d definitely want to notify parents of such behaviors, and I assume even in those “liberal states” you mention they do just that (would be helpful if you posted a link to “bad policy” to help understand what you are referring to).

I'm sorry but I thought you said it is not happening. So is it happening or not?

The center right folks on this board are trying to explain to you all some of the reasons why Trump won. Maybe listen instead of telling us we do not know what we are talking about whether you think we are right or not. This is a good example. First you say it is not happening and then say it maybe happening but it is not a real issue.

I live in deep blue Virginia and can tell you that all my guy friends with kids all know at least one child in their kid's classes that is going by a gender not of their birth. That is so statically unrealistic that it boggles the mind when it comes to legitimate gender dysphoria, which I believe is a real thing.

I completely understand this point. I really do. But I will never be able to reconcile it with voting for a guy who tried to overthrow the last election in multiple ways. It is what it is I guess.

Does anyone believe this is true and even if so is this a productive way to reel in voters? This is some of the stuff I'm talking about beyond the economy.

This law was also in effect during trump administration.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/16/us/politics/trump-prisons-transgender-care-harris.html

A campaign ad released by former President Donald J. Trump in battleground states slams Vice President Harris for supporting taxpayer-funded transgender surgeries for prisoners and migrants, concluding: “Kamala is for they/them. President Trump is for you.”

But the Trump administration’s record on providing services for transgender people in the sprawling federal prison system, which houses thousands of undocumented immigrants awaiting trial or deportation, is more nuanced than the 30-second spot suggests.

Trump appointees at the Bureau of Prisons, a division of the Justice Department, provided an array of gender-affirming treatments, including hormone therapy, for a small group of inmates who requested it during Mr. Trump’s four years in office.

In a February 2018 budget memo to Congress, bureau officials wrote that under federal law, they were obligated to pay for a prisoner’s “surgery” if it was deemed medically necessary. Still, legal wrangling delayed the first such operation until 2022, long after Mr. Trump left office.

So, not one surgery actually happened under Trump and we have video of Kamala advocating for the policy. Yep. See last night.

My response was addressing the law which was in effect during trump’s first term. Fact.

I've been active on this thread because I see this stuff all the time and while inflation is one of the most driving factors (already stated my opinion that it shouldn't be) this is the kind of stuff that causes a reaction from the other side. The pendulum has been swinging further and further over time and in part why we have Trump today. I wish someone would step up and ignore the other side and stick to focusing on their own parties platforms and issues and let the voters come to them on their own

I get that but i cannot get past the person he is. As i’ve stated on here previously honor and integrity are most important to me in a candidate. If someone is not trustworthy (and trump is not in my view) what does it matter what they say is a policy and how can one trust what is said about anything. trump embodies pretty much everything my parents raised me not to be and that I successfully raised my children not to be.

My dad died in 2019 and had voted Republican in every Presidential election since the 40s. In 2016, he said he just didn’t want to vote because his party had nominated someone who was so disgusting and unAmerican. I agree

I’m saying the schools actually causing or encouraging kids to “transition” is what doesn't happen. I’m obviously not claiming those people don’t exist at all, which I guess is your definition of happening. Statistically I see that it’s about 1.4% of the population.

Isn’t Virginia one of the states that passed the stricter parental consent law? So if your friends “know somebody” wouldn’t that also mean it was cleared by their parent in that state rather than the school holding onto it? If it seems “statistically impossible” maybe somebody is full of it or they refer to the same kid? Who knows.

This is your policy below. I don’t see anything crazy, other than I think teenagers do deserve some health privacy and i dont see provisions for that in VA.

    https://www.doe.virginia.gov/home/showpublisheddocument/46509/638252918535370000

I’m just struggling to see the issue here. Like… you know some guys who claim to be aware of a trans student in their kids class. And?…
