People who hate/love Trump are indeed immovable. That still disregards a very large contingent of people that think he's cringey, not that bright and don't really like him but also don't fall in the camp that compares him to Hitler or think he will destroy democracy.

Maybe we need to bring back Dubya to be UF's prez. We were Swamp Kings during his tenure.

I didnt exclude people indifferent to Trump. Those are the moveable ones and they were more moved by the prices that drove record corporate profits more than the anti-democracy promises of Trump. Tragic in my book but definitely a fact.

This is the rub for me and what I can't get past. He did try, multiple times and multiple ways. Fake electors. Lawsuits. 1/6. Dominion "Find me the votes." All of it. So, personally, I just can't let people off the hook that refuse to acknowledge that fact. So when people aren't concerned with that fact or deny it happened, I just don't understand. At all.

Right now on MSNBC one of the commentators is saying she received a text some time ago from a legislator in Pennsylvania who had a prison guard tell him he was voting for Trump because Democrats make him feel bad about who he is. It’s the talking down to blue collar workers that cost them. At least the commentators admitted this is an issue they have to address.

Well for me personally I have a particular disdain for most politicians and believe there is a certain level of corruption and lack of ethics amongst most of them at every level...city, county, state and federal. I've witnessed enough of it at a local level to know it has to be worse the higher the stakes. Now I don't disagree with what you wrote and all transgressions are not the same but again for me personally, I think the whole system needs an audit and an enema.

Then again, I abstained from the presidential vote so I can't speak for how others specifically reconcile those issues.

So what I would tell you is that you have some center right posters on this board that have said they were not voting for Trump but understand why people on the Right were voting for Trump. We are now trying to explain to you what went into the stew that resulted in Trump winning yesterday. Maybe start listening to what we are saying if you want to win in '26 and '28.

Allan Lichtman predicted a Harris victory but if you looked at his 13 "keys" they actually predicted a Trump win.

I deal with it on a local level and 10000% agree. Unfortunately I don't think it's possible with the system we have in place, and will only get worse as the the population continues to grow and representation gets more diluted. I couldn't begin to tell you the solution, other than the generic "get the money out of politics"

Just heard on CNN that the most Hispanic county in America, 97% Hispanic, hasn’t voted for a Republican since 1892. They went for Trump 57 to 41.

This can happen when a party takes a demographic for granted and initiates policy which results in many children of said demographic being trafficked into the U.S.

Numerous times over the last year, people on TH said they don’t understand how anyone can vote for Trump. I think in most cases it was just a way to denigrate Trump supporters and not a serious attempt to understand.

I think the problem is, they were focusing on the wrong things. The Trump haters were focused almost entirely on his character flaws and personal failings. I did not vote for Trump, but I know a lot of people who did. They weren’t focused on Trump as a person.

The Trump supporters I know were focused on Trump policies vis-a-vis the Democrat policies. They believe that the Democrat policies not only leave them behind, but are dangerous for the country, the same way that the Trump haters believed Trump policies would be dangerous for the country.

People I know who voted for Trump are good, solid citizens. They love this country, and they help their neighbors. They didn’t like what they perceived to be the direction Harris would lead the country.
