Man for the past several years, you have posted almost exclusively left leaning posts and agreement with the libbies.

I know several moderate pubs that have no problem with gay people but are tired of the LGBT movement being so pervasive throughout politics. Several, although definitely not as many are indifferent about trans but others have been moved to feel threatened by it because of its rise to the forefront via sports, bathrooms, teachers etc. Overall the people I interact with and know have a live and let live stance. Certainly not saying everyone. Abortion issues are a lot stickier but outside of the far religious right, most believe in early term abortion to some degree.

The moderates that fall into those categories whom also dislike Trump generally felt like the left pushed so hard on these issues (right or wrong, perception vs reality) that they held their noses and defaulted to Trump because it was the more moderate choice on those issues, not that he was the more moderate personality or candidate. Just passing on the general sentiment from people I work with.

I agree. But the point is, the dems had the wrong strategy and sort of insulted you g voters by thinking they were just voting based on a candidates age.

Young voters probably heard their parents talking about how bad inflation and interest rates have become and at least boamed Biden for that.

The dems...much like 2016...we just arrogant enough to think they cornered the market on demographics that they lazily 8gnored.

    Where am i wrong?
    • House looks like it will be about the same as it was.. +/- a vote either way.
    • Senate landed no surprises
    • State level positioned fell toward the Dems slightly
    • The president was better for pubs than 2020 but worse than 2016
Not sure that is an indictment of all things democrat but a reflection of dug in status quo voting with independents voting out incumbents every election.

Was there even increased young voter turnout? Every election it gets hyped up and and never comes to fruition. I'm not sure messaging is the issue.

Lame. Pervasive when the Pubs make gays enemy #2 after immigrants. No one is trying to make you gay. Sports is nothing, there is governing boards to keep things fair, not the government. Bathrooms are a joke issue. But, yea, lets get rid of all gay teaches. I am board there.

Dems insulting voters is the big trend here the liberals can’t figure out.

The Trump hatred is so intense that there’s a hardly-veiled undertone of “the only way anyone could consider voting for him is if they’re a terrible person or a dumbass.”

Believe it or not, people who were torn on what to do in this election do actually exist. And, for those people, unsurprisingly they don’t get excited about electing the people suggesting that, to be undecided, they must be either evil or idiots. They are tough to pick up in polls because lots of them don’t want to discuss that decision with strangers (because they don’t want people to berate them about how awful and/or dumb they are), but they come out and punish the people who kept insulting them at the ballot box.

I think that was a nuanced look at the election. I am disappointed people like Trump so much but generally it was a wash outside of that. Not really an indictment or mandate but I am open to a counter argument vs another snipe.

You’ve sniped at pubs and “maga” for years.
    Get some thicker skin.
It is awfully close to a mandate btw.
Popular vote!!! I mean come on man.

Thats the point.it only becomes an issue when it is constantly pushed. Its a political version of jumping the shark.

Dems thought abortion, LGBTQ and identity politics were winning strategies and they grossly miscalculated.

And now we have Trump again which I frankly believe may be a long term loss for the right unless he governs different than before.
