Nancy Reagan was rumored to be the all time throat goat but I am not sure if Reagan is still considered a Republican in today’s crazy times.
What other choice do we have? One of these people is going to win and we're all going to have to wake up on Wednesday and get on with our lives.
It's not really a "bar" to overcome at all. The election is won or lost in the EC, and that's all that matters. I just think that's the number a side has to achieve to go throwing around terms like "landslide," "blowout," or "mandate." Personal opinion only. There's no rule. Anything short of that is what I would consider "close." And to me "close" means the winning party needs to be more magnanimous in its majority and engage in more negotiations and compromise, rather than trying to impose its will. In my lifetime, I have seen both parties abuse their slender majorities as if they have received a mandate to impose whatever they want on the minority. And that only tends to exacerbate our divisions.
No, I’m afraid that does nothing to distinguish the two candidates. We’re still right back to what @toon66 wrote.
Its a winner take all election system, any claim of a mandate or 'so close you gotta be nice and work together' is meaningless and/or unquantifiable. If we want quantifiable mandates we should become parliamentary system.
My family did an Impressive job of fighting communism and the USSR. If you grew up in Florida you might have 5aken a high school course called Americanism VS Communism. Before that it was called Know Your Enemy. Russia isn't the USSR. Your hatred of Russia is simply an opinion that was assigned to you. If you were smarter that wouldn't have happened to you
It's raining in St. Pete today. I didn't know there were Communists there to fight, but I will keep a lookout for them next time I hit the Skyway. Good thing for me I read Too Hot at 3 am.
