Take it in the context that we have had one season where the starter of the 1st game went through to the bowl game in the last 16 seasons and then ponder why Gator fans think qb depth is essential.
Everyone who has been around the block knows a guy like Napier. The one who thinks himself clever for going against the grain. Not recognizing that it is only clever if it works. Otherwise you are just being purposefully boneheaded.
Cmon....do you seriously think he personally brings in Millen and then decides to try and be "clever" by playing someone else? That's nonsense. Millen fell behind Lagway (and was reasonably close wih Warner) and saw the writing on the wall and wants to save his year of eligibility.
What's nonsense is saying that we should have had a guy after Lagway. You said Napier put all his eggs in the lagway basket. Well of course he did. And he got our now starting qb 2nd string reps. And you think somehow that was wrong. Yeah, that's nonsense.
I think he put Warner ahead of Millen never considering either of them seeing the field in anything other than garbage time. Millen already used his redshirt at Nevada Clay Millen - Football - Florida Gators
What could possibly prompt you to believe something so bizarre? We got forced to use our 3rd guy last year....so this year he just randomly decides not to care about 3rd string and also randomly inserts a walkon over Millen just for the heck of it? Please tell me you don't actually believe that's how things work. And the NCAA awards years pretty freely if you don't play, he shouldn't have an issue getting the year back, especially if his Nevada year was medical
That was the joke here. Take Beck.. please. Starks got burnt for a TD. It happens. And Starks wasn’t “depth”, he’s a starter. KJ Bolden (non-starter) played pretty well. BTW, two of the RBs that ran for TDs were UGA’s 5th/6th stringers. Got to have depth in the SEC.
You still shouldn’t a have PWO as your 3rd string. He’s had some serious misses at the QB spot (Simmons, Rashada, Stokes) granted some not necessarily in his control but he hasn’t worked to fill the missing pieces. Maybe some better character evaluation on those others. Let me ask you this, what happens next year if god forbid DJ gets hurt again? He should have a solid 4/5 star committed in the 25 class at this point. He’s got zero. That’s mishandling the roster and deserves some criticism.
Meh, the qb budget likely got dpent on DJ and rightly so. This years qb bag seems to be out of Napiers reach at the moment. Someone pointed out tgat we got outbided for Simmons who could be starting next week. Decisions are made and theres a budget.
Millen is a scholarship guy with plenty of D1 starts There will almost certainly be a portal qb if they don't get a hs qb they like for next year. You also have several walkons that may develop into nice depth....I like the California kid
Meh, If there is a budget it’s part of the job to manage it better. If you go all in on one guy you damn sure better have the pieces in place to make it work or it will blow up in your face.
It blew up last week but we gave her the old try. Almost. Im glad we dripped the bag on DJ and not some other guy with a better backup. Shit happens.
