Not many rosters have three qbs capable of beating Georgia. It's unfortunate that weve gone through the only two players on the roster that are power 5 qbs.
We had a 7 point lead with a defense that was playing inspired. He didn’t have to beat Georgia, he just had to manage the game enough for us to win. The coaches didn’t trust him to throw and UGA knew that and stacked the box. He had to throw at the end and you saw what happened.
They may have to do just that tommyvee but, I’m hoping that he gets better with more reps and also hoping DJ will be back before season is over. Your avatar is a huge distraction you know. I really don’t feel like arguing with you with that picture over your words.
unless major $ boosters decide to get back on board NIL…there won’t be any big transfers coming to UF in the portal. recruiting wise…if Napier is being retained…some announcement needs to happen sooner rather than later. Not that this would bring in NIL money. But….the program needs something positive to happen over the next week or so and a commit or two would help. But no recruit seems to be willing to jump aboard with all the uncertainty at coaching. A new head coach would definitely bring in NIL as optimism will go up but that wouldn’t happen until after the season so no help to recruiting right now. ( I am by no means endorsing keeping Napier. Just stating what may help recruiting even in the slightest).
Whose making excuses? The kid's a FR WO, he played like FR WO QBs play. If your point about next year being tougher is an indication of BN being in a huge bind, I'm not hearing a lot of excuses making there either. Frankly, any chances that Billy can pull his regime out of the fire at this late date are fleeting at best no matter the relative difficulty of to two very equivalent schedules. I seriously doubt that anyone here isn't aware of the dire nature of our situation or doesn't see it as unacceptable.
I occasionally get hit by an overzealous mod, though it's usually because someone posting nonsense might get their fee fees hurt. If it's happening to you regularly then you should probably look inward for the problem. A large portion of the posts here are negative towards the staff so there's a large body of evidence to show that's not exactly a banned opinion.
Its going to be very difficult for us to win anyomore games unless DJ makes it back but im not getting my hopes up.D J was probably going to give us a decent shot at winning every game.
This one 2oldgator said: ↑ "Warner wasn’t what we needed today but, he hung in there and wasn’t as bad as a lot of Gator “fans” are making it. It wasn’t the ideal situation to be thrown into but he didn’t freeze up against probably the best defense in the country and actually made a few good plays. Yes, he threw a pick, DJ had a couple of throws sail on him too. I’m thinking after this he is going to get better. In fact I think the entire team is getting better and we have reason to be encouraged." The fact was he was horrible and probably will be horrible going forward. He is a Walk on for a reason. We will hope for the best, but losing two starting QB's with the team rising is the death nail for the season. It does give BN an excuse and unfortunately that is where we are. I'll gladly eat crow if I am wrong. So no clue of your point Captain.
UGA was outgaining us at a pretty significant rate in the 1st half. Lagway completed 2 passes. It was only the turnovers that got us ahead. UGA stopped turning it over in the 2nd half.
If we can’t afford to fire him then that’s a huge problem. Shoot FSU may fire Norvell and his buyout is way higher. If we want to keep him because we think he’s Dabo then fine, but we might as well close the doors if it’s due to $. Thats like putting ourselves in severe probation. And without something to change recruiting we may be staring at multi year poor classes. Our class average is still okay and it’s a matter of numbers.
The early september Gators would have gotten run out of Everbank. Even playing shorthanded, still damn near got the W. Screw moral victories, but the team is playing much better than they did versus miami and atm. Love the no quit!
You cant just run straight at Georgia and expect to be successful with no tgreat of passing.kid played his best and maybe he just isnt good enough.
Depends on who we can get also. Changing coaches without a good new hire doesnt help either. Maybe the school should consider using the money that football is generating on football. Why should boosters pay when the fans have already given the school huge profits.
And replace him with who? If it’s not THE guy we really want I don’t see the upside in making a change …unless, he loses the locker room.
And only up 7 with 4 minutes to go before that horrible int. The defense continued to hold them pretty well. Having zero threat of a passing game or RPO doomed this team... And yet we still had a chance.
BN is not going anywhere, that is the reality. It may suck, but that is what is going to happen. No coach would win with what we have left at QB against this schedule. This team was projecting upward, to say it was not is flat out lying. We were going to probably beat Georgia yesterday. We probably would have won 7-8 games this season. The team is improved and that defense is pretty good, the best in years I would still rather have Kiffen, but it ain't happening. BN is getting another year. If he starts slow again, he will be gone by the 4th or 5th game. *Lots of receipts to keep (update)
It's the same conversation after every loss. I have seen this happen at other programs, where a segment of fans will stick by a coach who is clearly in over his head. There's a consistent narrative each time. Coach [insert name] is a really great leader off the field or he's a good person or my favorite, "he's building this program the right way." It's the same narrative for every coach who is in over his head at name your storied program. Injuries are a part of the game. We were bad before the injuries. The losses don't stop tallying if your QB goes down. The NIL money doesn't cease to evaporate if your QB goes down and the recruits start looking for success elsewhere. Injuries can happen, but there has been one consistent theme going on 3 years now. He doesn't win SEC games. Florida will never be more than a lower end mid-tier SEC program under Billy Napier. You can see the look of confusion on his face and it feels forced when he challenges the refs. To be a success at a program like Florida, you have to have a killer instinct. Billy has never shown that.
The only reason it seemed somewhat close yesterday is because of Carson Beck. UGA doubled us up in total yardage. It really wasn't that close.
