At this point of the season, here is my position analysis in no particular order. Give me yours.

    quarterback
Obviously the offense was limited under Mertz. It has shown tremendous growth under lagway. The deep ball was back! Unfortunately we are in trouble for the remainder of this year.

    running back
We all are impressed with Baugh. Looks like the back of the future. It would be nice to get a speedy game breaker to go along with him.

    linebacker
I think Billy gets the most credit here. This position was in dire straights when Billy arrived. Pup, Shemar and Jaden are very good with two freshmen studs behind them.

    defensive tackle
Here we have an issue. The fact that we have to play dez Watson is an issue. I just don’t think he’s an SEC caliber defensive tackle. He is okay against the run but nonexistent against the pass. The rest of the tackles don’t do much. Boireau has been an unexpected bright spot.

    defensive end
Pyburn seems to be serviceable against the run but he’s no nick bosa. Boone has been very disappointing and was owned by Georgia’s tight end. We don’t get pressure on the quarterbacks without blitzing. Sapp has been up and down.

    corner
We have improved considerably here. If only Devin Moore could stay healthy. Cormani should be good down the road. We need to recruit here with Marshall gone.

    safety
Gates looks like a keeper. I still question Jordan castell..not convinced he can bean effective safety at this level.

    wide receiver
We are going to miss badger next year…what a find. Mizell has a bright future. Dike has been very good. We need to recruit some future stars here.

    tight end
We could really use a Ben troupe or the like here. Both guys are limited in what they can do. This position has been up and down. Lagway doesn’t throw to these guys much.

    offensive line
They started the season miserably but got much better. Recruiting needs to improve here. I really like slaughter.

Yesterday's game was played by a great bunch of Gators. Their effort was mostly relentless, I say mostly because as a fan, some of the tackling efforts were horribly embarrassing. The three or four weak efforts came from guys in the secondary. I am old school so maybe I'm wrong. Where are the head hunters that run through the ball carrier? Some of the weak arm flailing trying to bring the carrier down was so weak...... Maybe those guys are the best in coverage but tackling is a major part of the game. All I''m saying is that I hope the Coaches can do a better job of what they can teach as tackling effort. Pretty much my only dislike of the game, other than the final score. We were in position to win, just some very unfortunate injuries. Best wishes the rest of the way fellas, will be cheering for you.

    GO GATORS!!!!

It's like we're playing with 10 when he's on the field. No push and doesn't even command a double team. Why move him when you can just run right by?

Dez is a bizarre choice. He's almost like a circus attraction. Even against the run he is mostly invisible. Teams scheme around him, almost use him to their advantage. He also isn't very strong, I've seen time after time where the RB actually gains yards after contact. 450 lbs should be like hitting the guard rail.

Ask any of our rivals. Go ahead. I've heard that for a couple of years now. Living in Birmingham, you'd be surprised what our rivals say. But they, Bama and Auburn, UAB, Tennessee, Georgia, Miss St and Ole Miss fans all say the same thing. I say he's a project that shows promise but after 2 years?? If he could drop another 100 lbs he would be pretty damn good. He's fast for his size, but he tires easily and he has no push.

Open any thread – doesn’t matter the subject - and you will come across RGF spewing vitriol.
Many of his criticisms of BN Are valid, but he doesn’t seem to have any other purpose in life than to blow up every thread with personal attacks on our coach and players.

Since when is saying rivals call one of our players a circus attraction a personal attack? He's a project more than anything, always will be. I love his energy but as a playmaker, just isn't one.

It's just that, you have part of the fan base that wants to keep Napier when we'll have to deal with this again next year. Seriously, if we keep Napier, 5 straight losing seasons with no one on our list to replace him with. We might at that point go ahead and keep him for a 6th or 7th season, maybe even go ahead and let him finish out his contract so we don't have to pay a buyout.

You guys living around Gainesville don't get to hear the constant jokes I hear every single day. It sucks to constantly hear it every Monday morning. I even have Vandy rivals taking jabs. The office cooler is not a fun place anymore.

The only position I’m worried about is the HC for next year.

I dont want to keep the guy. But more importantly want a good replacement.

We are in no position to trust that process. Which is why I strongly suspect that he will be here next fall.

Funny you say that, because I thought about Louis Oliver and Jarvis Williams and said to myself, "Man I wish we had some hitters in the secondary."

Those guys terrorized people. It's hard to focus on catching the ball if you suspect you are about to have a ruptured spleen.

I’d have him fall on the other team’s center on every play.

All this hate on Dez is fat shaming.

He's a decent player, and has peformed very similarly to the other DTs, but because of his weight, he gets singled out.

Fat people are people too. Let's stop the hate.

That's right! Football coaches, drill instructors in the military, cheerleading coaches, ballet masters, track coaches and swim coaches etc. have no business wanting their athletes fit! That is unacceptable today. "Qu'ils magnet de la brioche"

On a couple of delayed blitzes that got home, the blitzing linebacker hid behind Watson before making his move, so he's good for that at least.

Have him lay on the field perpendicularly and force the RBs to go around or jump over him. That way he's virtually in the way of the centers & guards, and he's at least impacting the line of scrimmage.
