Beat a lot of good teams, took out the SEC Champion twice and the national champ, never came close to a losing season.
True but we are playing, or should be by now, with a much better roster than IU. Did not look deeper but last cycle our class was 15th, IU's 50th, rivals. We are comparing a first year HC getting results, albeit against lower competition, to a third year HC playing with mostly his recruits. True though, the SEC is tough.
You are pretty quick to give up on Warner, as are a lot of others on this board. The young man was put on the field abruptly against what very well may be the best defense in the country and didn’t fold. Period. He didn’t preform well, I give you that, but I think he will improve. I credit CBN for giving the young man a handful of game reps earlier in the season. Warner’s parents are both Gator alumnus. I hope they don’t read this board.
A good point I’ve been trying to make all season. Spurrier and Meyer didn’t have to play the schedule we have. Is Texas permanently on our schedule?
Actually you can blame Billy for not having depth. Our recruiting classes under him, while decent, were not outstanding and lacked in numbers. We should have brought in an extra quarterback or two, some extra defensive backs and linemen. Somehow you keep ignoring the fact that our recruiting class is 51st right now. That’s really inexcusable. You can’t give Billy a pass for those losses to Arkansas and Missouri that have given recruits pause. It’s not the fan base. He’s simply not producing wins and that’s what it comes down to. The administration has no choice but to move on if we finish 5-7 or 4-8.
All teams have injuries. That’s part of football. That’s why depth is so important and something we don’t have. Losing two quarterbacks in the same season on noncontact injuries is pretty weird though.
vandy has played both Bama and Texas and are already bowl eligible. Vandy. Every schedule is hard for Vandy actually. (Lots of teams play hard schedules).
with zero o linemen commits (we have more o line coaches than o line commits) and no qb commit. Depth is currently not being helped with the recruiting class at those positions.
How many times have you seen a player carted off the field play again in the same season? I’d say it’s pretty rare.
