Topics help people find the information they are interested in and not have to wade through what they are not interested in. I have no interested in future Gators, just what's happening now. With everything in one topic, I have to wade through a bunch of posts to get to those posts about the current team that interest me. No offense intended! As you say, some people are interested in that topic, then they can click on it. But the future is a different topic than what is happening now. Different topic, different thread, especially since there are so many messages about the future.
We are "overwhelmed" with information on current players and the fall season. To the extent there has been almost no information regarding Townsen, Gabi, Layla, Rylee and Kenleigh. No tv. No official stories. No stats. Extremely sparse details from people that are fortunate to attend fall games. So I can post what I think is interesting information regarding our #1 2026 recruit playing for a state championship or we can just go on this regular thread with virtually no posts at all. And I am completely lost regarding why anyone would not care about what is happening with kids that are all-in to be Gators.
I admit that I was getting confused going back and forth from your posts on Buford to the current team's exhibition game. I like that @johnnycakes set up a separate thread for future Gators.
Frankly, I enjoy reading all of the posts. I’m all in for Gator Softball and consume all that is posted. I learn so much here without having to jump to different threads. But that’s me. With that being said, I’ll go to any thread if I know it exists to get my consumption of Gator Softball.
I also agree. Posting about two games at one time was a little confusing. I love hearing all the recruiting information but imo it should be in its own thread where it's easy to find. No one is attacking you for posting it here. All I meant with my original question about it was because I know used to there was 2 threads. I was kindly referred to the recruiting thread when I was posting about keagen in the current thread at the time. Just makes information easier to separate and find. We all want as much as we can get about the current team and future gators....nobody's saying don't post about the recruits. I just personally think there's no harm in separating it.
Well, every post clearly stated it was referring to Buford, a high school I have mentioned before, playing for a state championship, and clearly talking about Caroline Stanton who is well known as our #1 recruit. I'm trying to figure out how that could possibly be confusing when there is no, zip, zero, information about the Gator game other than what I coopted from the Gator twitter board. Not one person at the game, or at any of the previous games, has been providing any information regarding what is happening during the game and only sparse information post game when begged for it. But, that's fine. No more posts from me on any of our kids.
People will find any reason to complain and be contrary just for the sake of argument. I like your informative posts and appreciate them. I hope you will continue either here or in the new thread. Missing out on your insights and all the information you provide past, present and future would be a loss to this board imo.
I agree, but separating them will help. If people are interested, they will go to the other thread, including me.
I wasn't complaining nor being contrary. I was just stating an opinion, which I thought is what these boards are all about. @rickjs1 provides tons of information for everybody and keeps up with our future Gators and travel ball better than anyone I know and it's much appreciated. But I do like what @johnnycakes did by setting up a separate thread. To each his own.
I get it. I just imagine the amount of time @rickjs1 spends compiling all this information and then sharing it with us is practically a full time job. Now we’re saying we love the information but we need it in a different thread. Another thread is probably the last thing he wants to deal with lol. I do get both sides scrappy but I could understand if rick is feeling unappreciated right now.
Am I right that tomorrow's games are five inning games and we play two of them, and we don't play in the first one starting at 1:00 PM? Driving up from Ocoee to be there.
According to the Internet (take that for what its worth) the first UF game starts at 3PM -- probably later if the 1PM game runs late. Me, I'm going to try to hit volleyball and make it a double header!
Hey, don't take your ball and go home! A few weeks ago I posted how much I enjoy your insight and information. I was merely suggesting that it warrants a thread of its own. You should be honored by that!!! I sure didn't mean to get your knickers in a twist!! Sorry about that! Cuz everyone is different and has their own opinion. For the life of me, I am completely lost regarding why anyone would not vote for the presidential candidate that I like, but I understand that people are different.
Personally, I think we get so little information from high school and travel softball that it doesn’t warrant its own thread. And Rick is just about the only poster that brings that information.
Don’t screw around with this forum. It’s fun and informative. It’s it perfect? No! So what if some one posts something you are not interested in or even off topic, skip to the next post and be thankful you are with a group who really, really enjoy Gator softball.
That's a valid point. @rickjs1 really does spend tons of time following that aspect of Gator softball and sharing what he finds. And most, if not all, of us are grateful. This "Ongoing UF Softball Commentary" thread has been kept going since February 2022 by a bunch of people continuing the discussion about this great sport pretty much year 'round with insight and opinions from wherever they choose. And once the season starts there will be a separate thread started for each game or tournament we plan in. So while I appreciate what @johnnycakes did, it's really up to each person to decide where and what they are going to post. Gator softball posters, to me, are the most accommodating, respectful, knowledgeable and engaged group on any Gator thread on any Gator message board and I'm just glad to be a part of it.
Love Rick’s posts on the up and coming players. Probably my favorite content. I personally want things to remain as they are. I Suggest a simple header word like RECRUITING above the content.
After some thought, I agree with this. I read, or at least skim every post in this thread. Not sure I would do that in a separate recruiting thread. I like it the way it is.
