Geez ... glad the police got him as quickly as they did. I won't ever understand this ...

Police did a great job there. Kudos OPD.

Thoughts and prayers to the parents of the shooter who likely gave him access to a gun. Just a guess.

A seventeen year old with a grand theft arrest last year shooting people in a bar district with a handgun, I suspect you’re more likely to be looking at gang crime as the explanation than “misunderstood Timmy whose parents don’t use a gun safe.”

My daughter was downtown last night for a friends 21st birthday and luckily wasn't in this area. Crazy. I work a block away and the cops still had Orange Ave closed at 8am this morning.

For a gang member, I'd expect to see more criminal history than a single GT arrest.

“When the law changed, basically you can carry on a public street as long as you meet certain criteria,” Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith said.

Measures used in previous years to screen people for weapons during the downtown Halloween celebration – including checkpoints and gun-sniffing dogs – were not possible this year because a 2023 state law allows most people to carry a concealed weapon without a permit, Smith said.”

Seems all these mass shootings happen at public gatherings. Instead of banning guns it seems to me the answer is banning public gatherings.

Both are about as realistic. . . and un-Constitutional.

Why not make it illegal to be in the path of a bullet?

Not a 17 year old. And not if he was adjudicated delinquent on that grand theft charge.

I took his age into consideration when I posted. I have been dealing with juvenile gangs for many years, I would expect to see more of a record than this. Not only are they engaging in the unlawful conduct, but the police street crimes and gang units will arrest the members for everything they see.

Another day, another shooting in gun violent America, more specifically in Meatball Ron DeSantis’ Florida. Thoughts and prayers to everyone.

And what's weird is that it's NOT all over the news here in Tampa Bay.
