Only one thing matters, UF vs UGA, this fact alone should supercede anything and everything, ESPECIALLY for the players and coaches that have played in this contest at least once. IMO this equates to an SEC Championship game, or (what used to be) a New Years Day Bowl, when Bowl Games mattered. There really is no higher ceiling except perhaps for a National Championship. Everyone down to your pets, your stuffed animals and your sugar babe's or sugar daddys should have one focus and one focus only, BEATING UGA.
Yes, but you also have to look at how they performed against that schedule. Clemson beat F$U by 16. That performance is on par with BC. Hell SMU stomped the holes by 26. Clemson isn’t doing anything that we haven’t against similar caliber opponents. If we played their schedule, we’d have the same record at minimum. You’re fine to believe UGA is some kind of world destroying organization, but they haven’t shown me they are elite. Their current team is living on a perception from past seasons, it hasn’t been shown in my eyes yet. Honestly, the parody this year seems more level set than any before. I think of elite teams like the 95’ Nebraska, 01’ UM, etc. and nothing about UGA feels that way when I watch them. They’re one of the better teams in the country, sure. But they aren’t unbeatable and I don’t see any team this season that won’t take losses this year. We all know UM and aTm left a bad taste in ours mouths. However, the UF of the last few weeks is playing at a level that can be competitive with UGA and we aren’t elite. Just my $.02. Go Gators!
Gators have the nations 94th ranked rush defense while the Dawgs have the nations 95th ranked rush offense. We have the advantage boys! Gators win on our own one yard line just like 4th and the East vs LSU.
Clemson fluttered out on many drives against FSU which wasn't their cleanest game. Another way to look at it is that they made it into scoring position on all but one drive. That game could have easily been a name your score type of game. It's one of those where the score doesn't show how much of a whooping it was. 500 yards, 265 on the ground with 28 first downs to a paltry 265 yds and 14 first downs for FSU four of which came on fourth down conversions. Credit FSU's defense for not allowing TD's on many occasions, but, this was a woodshed type of whooping.
Since the bye week, we have played the #4 and #7 rushing offenses in UCF and UT. They average 6.0 and 5.3 ypc respectively. Between them and UK, we gave up 3.36 ypc. Since the simplification of the defense after the players meeting with CBN, the UF D has been a different animal from the first few games.
And yet still a lesser accomplishment than most that have actually taken the jokes to the woodshed. The only teams Clemson has racked up big wins over are atrocious teams in which the talent gap is obvious. I guess we’ll see this weekend just how good UGA really is.
History says Ohio State might be decent. I think they've lost a to the eventual national champions in a very close game the last three years in a row
And fsu is absolutely putrid. They havent scored 20 yet against any team including other garbage teams.
playing devils advocate- Auburn had a RB run for 278 yards vs UK last week. And the Auburn offense has been meh. Whether UF or UG, I wouldn’t include UK in the list of good DLs they played. The only reason Uk was ranked as a good defense at the time UF played them is because their offense held onto the ball and limited possessions for their opponent. Advanced stats (per GNFP) showed that if UK defense had to play the same amount of drives as the average team their defensive rankings tanked to like 70th. The Mark Stoops conservative game plans on offense helped to hide their liabilities on defense.
Vegas has mythical odds available for potential conference title games and Clemson is a touchdown favorite over Miami, who drubbed Florida. Georgia put a massive beat down on Clemson. I think you are underrating both Georgia and Clemson. Georgia also became the first team since 2010 to have 7 or more sacks vs the #1 ranked team in the nation (their best edge rusher returned from injury in that game) - regardless of what we may think of Texas they were #1 and have the #4 ranked talent roster in the country. There is a reason Georgia is more than a two touchdown favorite - roster and coaching talent. Napier is 1-5 vs teams higher in the talent composite while at Florida. The one win being at Texas A&M in 2022. He is 8-16 vs teams with a talent composite of 1-50. Those results are hard to ignore. None of this means Florida can’t win. Anything can happen on game day. And I do agree that Georgia is down compared to their dominance the past several years. Giving us our best shot since 2020. I will go into this game hoping DJ and the defense and our running game can lead us to a victory. But gonna be a hard task.
And NIL? I don't know, but his momma didn't like him being 1b, and that probably goes more to his NFL chances than wins or NIL.
