Posters are trying to bend logic to make themselves feel better about the failings of the Napier regime. Nothing says successful program like saying, "well they suck more than we do."

 

We both are bad no matter how much money the boosters are paying for talent but they are so bad, they cant even beat cupcakes. At least we can beat cupcakes.

 

We both suck but they do suck worse and we will at least be able to beat their sorry asses which is better than losing to them. Beat ole Zmiss and LSU and we still have nothing to be proud of as far as a season but it would be better than being an sec bottom dwellar. At least we would be average.

 

But they are at the bottom of the pile of shit and we are on top.

all kidding aside, Norvell has had better seasons but that doesn’t make him a better coach. He is 0-7 vs ranked teams on the road. At Florida state, including this season, he is 4-13 vs teams ranked in the top 25. (Heck, Napier is 3-0 vs FCS. Norvell is 2-1 with a humiliating loss to Jacksonville state).

While Napier has disappointed at UF, it is hard to do an apples to apples comparison.

I’ve been quite clear that I think Norvell sucks. Napier is clearly just worse

Besides everybody on earth should prefer:

1. a 13-1 conference title year that is in the playoff discussion + 1-11 year

over

2. 5-7 crappy year and 6-6 crappy year (giving Billy one ranked and FSU)

The marginal utility of going from a mediocre to a great year is far larger than the marginal loss going from mediocre to absolute shit.

Having a great year the fans good a good experience, have memories, helps recruiting, and you get an actual freaking trophy.

The actual difference between 5-7 and 1-11 is what exactly? They feel a little more shitty than us?

Id take a 13-1/1-11 over constant .500 all the freaking time.

Thats who you are. That’s honestly fine but please be self aware. When people are discussing data, process, evaluation, and trying to be objective please step outside the room. You are probably fun to be with during gameday but you aren’t suited for the objective discussions.
