It's like a Christmas carol when FSU loses... I get plenty of comfort and joy... comfort and joy from it.

People who live in stone houses should not throw glasses.

    That isn't us.

As Ex Bama coach Mike Price said while being “entertained “ in a venue by the oppo sex “ it’s flowing baby “

Actually, he was saying it’s rolling baby in reference to roll Tide

As long as they're not "half-cooked" pork ribs, I'll have half of the cooked ones!

Even if they are "half-cooked" - as long as the fire is still cooking, that's a great place of enjoyment to be because you know what's coming. I'd rather be around the slow cooking half-cooked pork ribs than to not be a part of that action at all. Probably drinking a beer and reminiscing about the days of better football and hoping for the return of such things while waiting for the finished product.

    Go GATORS!

Anyone who doesn’t understand your second statement doesn’t have a brain. Anyone who agrees with your first statement doesn’t have a heart. It’s always good for SWAC to suffer.

Several painful losses against FSU still haunt me! The there was the choke at Doke which was a tie but felt like a loss! The 96 loss with the hits on Danny at the echo of the whistle! (-thankfully revenged by 52-20 in the Bayou!).
We had great wins too, the 97 rotating QB's showing Spurriers coaching genius to down #1 FSU. Tebow's warrior game in Tallahassee and of course the MNC game already mentioned!

semi fans are starting to figure out that the transfers they got from Bama and Jawja were backups for a reason.

1978, '79 and '80 were all excruciating losses...my freshman, sophomore and junior year. I didn't like losing to UGA every year as we did those years but losing to FSU was more egregious to me.

I've told this before: My girlfriend came up to me the week of the game and excitedly said she had two tickets "away from the fraternity block" (implying she didn't want to be amongst that besotted crowd). She knew I worked at Donigan's that gameday..."We can 'dress up' for the game! It'll be fun!" I said I wouldn't go with her. She looked crestfallen. I explained: "I get too uptight on FSU game day. I'll do or say something stupid, we'll break up and I don't want that to happen." She looked at me like I had lost my marbles. She cocked her head endearingly, smiled, patted my cheek and said "That's silly. We're going. I'll pick you up at work." It was a gorgeous November day in Gainesville. I worked at Donigan's all morning...khakis, rep tie, blazer. The usual. On gamedays, we kept Bloody Mary and Screwdriver materials in the back room for customers that seemed like they were going to spend a lot. Work - and bloody's - kept my mind occupied but I was dreading the game the nearer it came. Beth met me at work, we closed up and all of us walked to the stadium. (It wasn't The Swamp yet.) I was really morose but tried to put on a smile for her.

Final Score: UF 35 - FSU - 3. Noles never crossed our 20 yard line the whole game. Basking in the sun on the east stands as it slowly set...watching the "Jaws" defense swallow the Noles for four quarters. A memorable day, a great post-game and a memorable evening. Sure am glad she insisted we go.

You taking a creative writing class? Don't think I've ever seen the following words used here at GC: morose, besotted, crestfallen or this phrase "She cocked her head endearingly, smiled, patted my cheek".:D

They still strut and crow about that one, and I remind them Spurrier never coached for a tie. It’s not the Choke at Doak, it’s Bobby No Balls who kicked for a tie.

Worst loss to me was the Swindle. Nothing boiled my blood more than what those ACC refs pulled that night.

My father, (no egg-headed academic he - Career light infantryman/paratrooper/Green Beret Silver Star, PH, etc.) once told me that the English language was uniquely capable of expressing the complexity of human thought but that we often fail to avail ourselves of it due to haste between thought and expression. And that was over 50 years ago. He rolls in his grave at what expressiveness looks like today.

My "rage, rage against the dying of the light" manifests itself in my persistent attempts to avail myself of the expressive capacity that my native tongue provides, regardless of the medium. It's like given a choice between a sophisticated weapon and a rock for self defense: Why choose the rock when, with care and instruction, we can learn to use the better tool? Thanks for coming to my TED Talk. :-D

    Two things Ranger...
    1) It's so nice to read something so well written, and yes, with some more descriptive words. Well done sir. Please post more.
    2) So what happened w/ your girlfriend. Did she say something stupid and ya'll break up? Or did you have kids together?
