I got paid to teach improv comedy. And got all expense paid vacations to teach/perform. For what that's worth.

For the record I said upthread the "they come inside. Like they come inside our country" was a good line. Wasn't the time or place, but I still thought it was clever.

We were there in February. Stayed in the north side, but not San Juan, and rented a car. Air bnb, not a resort. Place was awesome. And we weren't even down in the best parts like Vieques, b/c we didn't have much time.

Fwiw, I asked him that bc o vaguely remembered something along those lines, and bc I was curious if there was some inclination to defend a fellow comic in spite of politics. I pulled back on the second qn, bc i wasn't sure I'd remembered correctly.

 

Since we've already gone down this rabbit hole I'm not sure I've ever told this story on here.

About 10 years ago we got flown out to GITMO to do two sets. One for the officers at their lounge and one for the enlisted guys on a big stage. The set for the officers absolutely slayed. The one for the enlisted guys absolutely bombed. Improv isn't made for a big amphitheatre like that. Got to spend 5 days in GITMO, do radio spots, fish, get shown the around. Even with the terrible set on the big stage was one of the coolest experiences of my life

 

I just saw an interview with a popular radio host in PA with Puerto Ricans. He asked his listeners if trumph came out an apologized today for the remarks and distanced himself from the comedian, would they forgive him. They all said no, he could have and should have already done that. Also, one man called in and said he already voted for trumph and is sorry he did.To offset that, he is calling friends and family and asking that they vote for Harris to more than offset his vote.

This could be a tipping point for Harris in PA.

My close friend in PR says the story is getting a lot of attention there and Bad Bunny is very visible. His texts included a hand over the face emoji. That didn't surprise me since he supports Republicans. (I doubt his take is representative, and of course, residents of the island can't vote in the Presidential general election). It was interesting to me though that he seems concerned that the impacts on the internal politics in PR could be significant.

 

When I hear the name "Paula White" this comes to mind.

 

That island is more Democrat than Chicago. So it is interesting that a joke told by a comedian at a GOP rally would change things so significantly there.
