What if loser Trump and his brownshirts obstruct the legal certification of legitimate election results to force a different outcome favorable to him?

It’s so they can say “we should have won, look at all these polls saying we were going to win, this election was stolen, let’s riot again”….

I second this! All you can do is hope for the best, even if your instincts tell you that doing so is overly optimistic. Ian Bremmer had a good take on it in this interview if anyone cares. He's definitely not for Trump, but he stays away from the histrionics and hand wringing and points out - correctly - that the differences aren't as stark as one might be led to believe by the campaigns.

IMO, IF she wins big, they'll use that as their excuse. "But the polls were so close. . . this proves fraud!". There's no winning with some of these people so we may just have to "give them the law". ;)

There is an argument that Trump was utterly ineffective in his first administration with only one coordinated win (tax cuts) and another win that required SCOTUS folks to timely die, so one could argue "What is the big deal?". The issue is if he treats the next emergency, say Ukraine, like he treated Covid, which was poorly handled and had life and death impacts, it could be another catastrophe.

You're preaching to the choir. He doesn't diminish any of that. Just trying to put things into a little more sane perspective than we're getting from the various media outlets and shills.

I would argue that getting us pointed in the right direction on China will be seen as his biggest success, especially when considering how much Biden doubled down on and even strengthened the policy. That's how you know MAGA is utterly moronic. They constantly label Biden as "pro-China". You have to be a special kind of stupid to believe that.

You really don’t think I captured that in my post as well as pointed out why it would be a silly and ineffective argument?

Since 2016 Trump and his handlers have had eight years to study how to do Hitler things. Brace for Hitler things after Maricopa County.

I expect KAMALA to behave like an adult and concede which she would (eventually if recounts are required). Then she and Biden would attend the inauguration for a peaceful transfer of power like adults. There would be no rally on January 6 where Kamala speaks and incites violence in attempt to interfere with the certification of the vote. They wouldn't storm the capitol.

I'm sure some democrats somewhere would do something dumb but it won't be at the behest of our political leaders and it wouldn't result in half the country believing our elections are compromised.

Very glad to hear it. That’s how it is supposed to work. No one has to or should like losing. But they need to accept it, especially if they expect their followers to do the same.

Exactly right. It starts at the top. Would all of MAGA be convinced that Trump was cheated in 2020 if he hadn't been screaming about it non-stop for 4 years (including BEOFRE the 2020 election even happened)? Of course not. That is 100% his doing. His minions are simply following their leader.

If "certain people" had accepted it in 2020 and focused on the midterm, Biden would be politically castrated by now. Ditto for whoever wins this election. Like last time, the winners will be facing real headwinds and be ripe for a mid-term disaster. Provided they don't, you know, MAGA Moron.

I think it's more symbiotic than that. He is them. They are him. For instance: They liked the "eating dogs and cats stuff" just as they like the "Puerto Rico is an island of garbage" stuff, so he doubles down and gives them more.

My deep seated (and hopefully just paranoid) fear is that he plans on cheating. Make it look like he's ahead going into Nov 5th, actually cheat so he's declared the winner on election day and nobody is all that shocked based on polling/betting sites. Then when the plan is uncovered just use the courts to play defense and obfuscate the truth. He would basically just need to make it to the inauguration without getting caught and then there would be no way to hold him accountable once he's back in control.

Every accusation is a confession with Trump.

You really have your head in the sand on this issue.

It isn't about "you" and will "you" accept the election results. It is about Trump constantly seeding and feeding the narrative that the only way he loses if the election is rigged. That has been his go to since he came down the escalator in 2015.

Lost Iowa primary to Cruz. "It was rigged"

Going into 2016 with Hillary, "Only way I lose is if it is rigged."

2020, well we saw that play out, and he is still whining and saying it was rigged and stolen from him. That led to an attempt to stay in power using violence. See Jack Smith.

Now, 2024, he is claiming ... wait for it... the only way he loses is if it is rigged. He and the pub pollsters are throwing up a bunch of crap polls to try and show he is winning, so if he doesn't .... guess what "It was rigged!" Bring on Jan 6 2.0, or some other way to try and get control.

Too many people, perhaps you are one of them, are ignoring
the obvious warning signs of a repeat attempt to steal the election. Will you riot? Probably not. Will I? Absolutely not.

Will his cult members? I sure wouldn't put it past them.

Were there any non-silly and effective arguments made during the 2020 episode? Did that stop them?

It was just as silly last time, and you saw what happened. Why is it so hard to understand the Cult isn't listening to reason.

No. Remember, the quote from Trump's lawyers on why they kept losing the court cases after the election." His lawyers were complaining all they had to argue in court was, "conspiracy shit beamed down from the mother ship."

Team Trump will pull out all the stops again to try and steal the election should he lose. Harris will fight things in court if there is something to fight for. But if it's nothing but conspiracy shit? Expect her to concede the election, just like Hillary did.

Not saying that Trump is another Hitler despite the parallels between his rhetoric and the German guy with the funny mustache however we should also remember that the Nazi Party never received a majority of the vote in any German election and once they were able to take over the country through manipulation there wasn't a free election in Germany until World War II.
