Nah he's just a 3rd year coach that came into Gainesville with no excuses and blew out the Gators.

Hey, we have four times the amount of wins that fsu has with one less game played. Go ahead and talk smack to your fsu buddies.

He’s obviously all for giving Napier more time in Gainesville.

If Miami played our schedule, what would be their record? Per FPI, 4 losses, with one more (A&M) pretty close.

(Note: Sagarin isn't impressed by their schedule.)

This is why "skeptics" need to see a couple of quality wins going forward this year. We have the opportunity to change the narrative. Just can't see the roster or recruits hanging in there if we can't play with any of the big boys. Really wish he didn't paint himself into this corner because yes, this part of our schedule would be tough to navigate for any program but that's where we are at. How do you give the benefit of doubt going forward if some significant results aren't shown at this point?

F$u could never win another game ever and I'd be fine with that.

Yeah, laying a big fat egg in that opening game against Miami was disastrous for Billy. It’s almost like the bridge fell into the water behind him. Having to make up ground and score 4 wins out of 5 in the back half of this schedule will be next to impossible. I can get excited about Cignetti if it were to be announced. But I can’t help but think we might be scuttling a program finally headed in the right direction (however frustratingly slowly) — and end up worse off with another new guy coming in here to start all over.

It sucks that Billy wasn’t experienced at this level when he came in 3 years ago and has had to learn under fire on the job. But he has been learning — that much is obvious. He’s taken a lot of corrective action steps that have yielded results. Given this, and the quality of the personnel he’s brought in, there would be good cause for optimism…… if not for that damn blowout loss to start this season. The entire career of Billy Napier could be irrevocably defined by a game we lost 2 months ago

I think he could have even survived the loss to Miami had they not done it again against aTm playing with a backup qb and a first year coach. An aTm win and we look a whole lot different today even with the Tennessee loss.

With that said, yes I agree it "seems" he may have learned some things and we look better lately but we are in damage control at this point. It all gets fixed with some significant wins going forward. I won't add a "but" to that and keep it somewhat optimistic going forward. Win games, look good in all of them. See you next year. Best case scenario.

@antny1 FTR, the "backup quarterback" was put into the game last night to provide a spark, and did.

I concede your point though about no wins vs. teams with winning records, etc.

I also marvel: all 4 game threads I checked this morning, had all converged on a discussion about Billy.

I can believe that I fear it is possible that we might find a way to lose against FSU. I find our situation disturbing.

Napier has, surprisingly, won all four of the games he had to win this year to avoid an inexplicable meltdown like he had against Vandy in 22, Arkansas in 23, and Kentucky both years … but that was before we realized what a joke SWAC was. Napier had better have learned something from those four games in the previous two seasons to avoid a disastrous performance against SWAC. With this coaching staff, there are no games we can casually assume as victories.

We only have 10 turnovers this season. I don't see how FSU beats us. We hit 20 and that's ball game.

I see the Tennessee loss as the ultimate back breaker. We absolutely had them beat, and just gave the game away.

For whatever reason, our defense was beyond horrible early on, and Miami and ATM just steamrolled us as a result. Somehow we fixed that problem, or so it seems, but we still gave away the Tennessee game.

We should be 5-2 right now with a good shot at winning at least 2 more games, which would make a world of difference in how I felt about things.

I both understand and want you to be right. OTOH I have seen UF lose to FSU when "there was no way we could lose." Was at the "Rooster" game.
