So are you saying that the catcher (AK) was called for obstruction after Schumaker gunned out the runner at home?
Not at all. I'm saying that CTW had a long one-on-one discussion outside the dugout with her after the inning was over, which looked to be a teaching moment. I was speculating that it was about the play and her positioning.
It was great to be back at KSP, and a pretty big crowd, at least for the first game of the doubleheader. The announcer needs to realize that softball does not have a mound, as he kept saying "on the mound." And props to Jacksonville's pitcher #34 sticking in there and taking a beating. She ended up doing the entire second game, long after she had lost most control. Personally, it was really odd not to see Skylar Wallace. She was the heart and soul of the team for a few years. Really expected to look up at any moment and see her at SS.
At first glance, judging from Instagram and TikTok, Joyce is embracing that role this year. Kendra is the cheerleader and Keagan is embracing the role of the Ace.
Kendra is a leader, and she exhibiting it now. Even by her own admittance in her first two years, she was kind of shy and she faded in the background in her mind. Her leadership is now evident.
Nope. We have never to my knowledge broadcast a fall game. Best hope is the away game at North Florida. They might but that's just a guess. Other Gator softball boards have streamed games privately in the past but it hasn't happened in some time. I'm hoping somebody might do that today since it is FSU on a Sunday which should be the best chance for people getting to the game.
Why do I feel like the softball program is an afterthought fo FLORIDAGATORS.COM and THE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT? There is a dearth of news! Sometime weeks go by with no news. It’s Sunday and no stats or anything about Friday’s exhibition game (as opposed to Basketball against Fla. Intl.). There has been a slowness in getting the games on the air and I believe lack of concern for fans by competing in preseason tournaments unless games are available on ESPN+. I’m just venting!
I've posted about this before. To be the official website of the flagship university of Florida, the floridagators.com site is woefully lacking. It can go days without new content, especially on the weekends. No sport is immune. Though some, like softball, really get the short end of the stick. UF has a journalism school. Pay a journo student to post on weekends. They get valuable experience, and the site gets content. It's a win win.
Anyone know if the gate opens an hour before the game, like normal? Or since they don't have to have ticket takers, do they throw it open earlier? Nice to see them selling concessions for Fall Ball. That's a first.
