Yes, we all know that their schedule is backloaded this year in a way that it hasn't been historically. We'll see if he can pull off something truly impressive as the season continues.

Curt Cignetti, the head football coach at Indiana University, has a six-year contract that includes a base salary, annual bonuses, and other compensation:

    Base salary: $500,000 per year

Annual outside income: $3.5 million in the first year, increasing by $100,000 each year to $4 million in the sixth year

Annual retention bonus: $250,000 on November 30 of each year

Bonuses for Big Ten wins: $100,000 for five wins, $150,000 for six wins, and $250,000 for a top six finish

Bonuses for College Football Playoff finishes: $500,000 for a first-round appearance, $600,000 for a quarterfinal appearance, $700,000 for a semifinal appearance, $1,000,000 for a national runner-up finish, and $2,000,000 for a national championship victory

Other benefits: Courtesy care, unlimited family use of IU's Pfau Golf Course, and access to football and men's basketball tickets

Cignetti's contract runs from December 1, 2023 through November 30, 2029. If he resigns, he would owe the school $8 million in the first year, $6 million in the second year, $4 million in the third year, $2 million in the fourth year, and $1 million in the fin
    al two years.

Love this contract, very performance based.

We just disagree on what's impressive is all. For IU, everything he's done so far is extremely impressive.

Even if they lose the rest of their games, still very impressive for year 1. But no one who's watched them expects that to happen. It's far more likely they win the conference at this point, at the very least contend for it.

Probably deserves a thread of its own: things getting messy in Columbus. Targeting call goes against tOSU, now fans throwing water bottles on field ala Texas last week...

I for one am thoroughly enjoying watching IU. Not sure how anyone can be unimpressed by their output. In other news, OSU may go down for a 2nd time. And how in the world they could possibly not uphold targeting on that play in the OSU Neb game is beyond me.

$6 million if he resigns after december 1 is not terribly loveable for us.

This is how you write a contract. I don't know who the IU AD is but hire that guy too.

This guy will prob get a renegotiated deal after this year. He is a program builder. The only question I would have is that he hasn’t done it at a pressure cooker program like UF but I guess Urban didn’t either. He reminds me of Urban in a good way.

This guy is older than Urban and Urban had won two NCs by the time this guy got his first HC job.

I am aware of the time lines and his age. My point is this guy turns programs around quickly much the same way Urban did when he was coming up.

Yeah, well if he was any good though he would have a Lagway as a backup. Clearly inferior.

Jeezus the same people bashing florida fans for taking a wait and see approach to Napier for this recent improvement can't give Cignetti the credit due for what they have done to this point. People even discredited the Nebraska win because 5 and 1 Nebraska "wasn't that good" yet they gave Ohio state all they could handle on the road at that.

That doesn't mean cignetti won't suck it up next year or going forward but what he has done at freaking Indiana is impressive no matter how many times people bring up one 6 and 2 covid year a few years back. Indiana football has been a dumpster fire for nearly forever save for 2 years under Allen.

Bruh what? All there is here is praise for Cignetti and who's bashing Florida fans for taking a wait and see approach to Napier? Who brought up the covid year?
