No I don’t have evidence, but do you really think that’s a thing? I highly doubt it.

In your world, I sell a car. The car dealer down the road steals it and sells it for half the price. Free trade! That was good for the consumer!

I know it's a thing. for 7 years my office was next door to a guy who specialized in "property theft". It is rampant among all companies. In fact, I know an economist who embedded himself in a company for 20 years to study it.

depends. Subsidizing education = good. Subsidizing illegal activity and terrorism = bad.

Yeah I guess I don’t know what you are talking about. Working 30 years in corporate America at various levels I don’t recall any discussions about stealing from competitors or anybody for that matter.

Then I'm sure you're all for subsidizing our EV industry so we can compete with China.

we do subsidize our EV industry. Check out the EV tax credit terms. I bet China can make EVs cheaper than us, PERIOD. So, it seems moot. Let 'em have it or is that some strategically vital industry too??

Never said we didn't. I said you must be for it since you apparently like subsidies so much.

when did I say I liked subsidies so much? For the record, I am not for it. Though, I am certainly not universally against subsidies. They can be a great way to price externalities (as taxes can be).

Ok, you just said 'so, subsidizing is not bad'. So you don't think subsidies are bad and thus should have no issue with subsidizing our EV industry.

usually. But, in the case of products/services that produce positive externalities, they are good. B/C pos externalities are benefits that producers do not get, hence, they will under provide the good/services & subsidies can remedy that. Just like taxes can increase the price of things that are bad.

ex. I am for weed taxes b/c it's use can cause neg externalities & cause social costs that need to be addressed.

And are there positive externalities produced by subsidizing our EV industry?

You two guys are amazing in your knowledge of economics, one of many areas where I'm deficient.
