Despite frequent claims, little to no evidence of widespread voter fraud has been detected in the U.S. over the last couple of decades. Right? Numerous studies and investigations, including those conducted under both Republican and Democratic administrations, have consistently found that voter fraud is exceedingly rare.

Moreover, the "DNC's" stance on voting policies emphasizes the importance of access to the polls for all eligible voters, particularly marginalized communities, including the poor. Requiring proof of citizenship or photo identification can disproportionately affect lower-income individuals who may not have easy access to these documents. By opposing such measures, Democrats aim to protect voting access for those whose voices are often underrepresented in policy-making, which is why they may not support policies that, while popular among a majority, could have a negative impact on vulnerable groups. In other words, the 86% of people support voter id laws are the ones that have voter ids and proof of citizenship. The "DNC" wishes to protect those that don't have easy access.

An analogy might be a city deciding to convert a bike lane into additional car lanes because the majority of residents drive cars. While the change may seem reasonable to most drivers, it limits the mobility of cyclists, who are often a smaller group with fewer resources. This decision would make it harder for those without cars to safely travel, ultimately prioritizing the convenience of the majority at the expense of a vulnerable minority who rely on the bike lane for transportation.

All the survey proves, to me, it that the average American is either ignorant or doesn't give a shit about marginalized groups. Always a safe bet.

You need a drivers license for just about everything nowadays. Just to use a credit card, I am asked to see ID. To write a check, you need ID. To board a plane you need an ID. To see a doctor you need an ID.

Everyone has an ID. The only reason not to require an ID is for voter fraud.

If someone can register to vote, they can get a valid ID. Most states issue picture IDs, even if it’s not a drivers license.

Plenty of people get through life, albeit with difficulty, without IDs.

Answer this, @TheGator, would you deny people their right to vote in an attempt to solve a problem that doesn't exist? Are you that type of dude? You know, one that would imprison a 100 innocent people so that one guilty doesn't go free?

Sigh. Individual cases of illegal voting do exist, the data shows that these instances are extremely rare and not indicative of widespread voter fraud. Multiple studies, both federal and state-level, have concluded that voter fraud is not a significant issue that affects election outcomes. Affecting outcomes is the issue, right?

Analysis of millions of ballots cast has consistently found the incidence of fraud to be statistically insignificant—often around 0.0001% to 0.0005% of total votes. We have harsh laws to discourage those.

A recent thread here noted that Georgia found 20 cases of voter fraud across many elections. How many people where shut out of voting during that time?

BTW - You didn't answer my question, would you willingly deny people their right to vote to solve an imaginary problem?

damn. if politicians were .03% as good at addressing real problems as they are addressing fake ones, we'd be set.

Do you think it should be federalized or left up to the states? From what I can tell, this is handled different ways in different places. Not sure how accurate this is but it has a map. For example, in Alaska it looks like voters must have an ID but that ID does not have to contain a photo. Not sure about the citizenship part; I am pretty sure I've never had to prove my citizenship when voting in Florida.

don't you have to show proof of citizenship to register to vote?

why should you have to reproduce it after you have already documented it?

Damn, next thing you’re going to say is that machine counting is more accurate than hand counting! ;)

I am for ID requirements, but most attempts want to address match with the ID and call it fraud if it doesn’t match the voter roles. Disproportionately affects the poor and those sovereign folks with nunya as an address.

    Georgia is draconian.

My mom moved here this year and tried to register. They required proof of citizenship, 2 proofs of residency and identity. She brought her naturalization papers for proof of citizenship and they said the couldn't accept it without a birth certificate. I had to ask a manager if they really needed proof that she was born prior to registering. It was absolutely asinine. They relented.

My mom was very confused by the difficulty so I had to explain to her that Georgia is the poster child for voter suppression. As a lifelong Republican, she was dismayed.

Then she tried to vote early last week and was turned away as un-registered. Although we straightened it out later in the day, she was upset. I bet she voted for Harris after all that. :p

Weird to see a Trumppublican present the same gibberish and lies about the nearly non-existent voter fraud in this country....

.......and get multiple serious responses and debate. Just so those responses can be ignored.

These people don't listen to or believe in facts.

At long last, is there not a point where people believing and doing such must be held to even the lowest standards of integrity? Do rational people repeating the same (ignored) logic only normalize this crap?

    Are the actual facts debatable?

The percentage of airline passengers who hijack airplanes is extremely minute even compared to voter fraud. And yet every passenger is required to produce a Government-issued photo ID before getting on the plane. You even need a Government-issued photo ID to get on a Greyhound bus.
