If it were just clickbait, the GOP wouldn't be out there so hard trying to preemptively call it AI fakery.
I don't know if it is clickbait or not, but I see no reason to hold it "for a few days" like some are saying. People are voting right now, if it exists ... get it out there!
The guy who originated it is a clown who was himself fired from his job over allegations of sex assault/harassment and who now works for lowly Newsmax (oddly, he works for pro-Trump media). Hard to see that as credible. Could be somebody looking for a big payday to suppress the video (Stormy Daniels 2.0 anyone?), but I would lean bullshit unless there is video. I guess that there are those defending it is interesting, but that may be reflexive cultist behavior (I.e. people who would defend rape or “shooting someone on 5th Ave”).
Regarding AI fakery ... right now the AI models aren't good enough to not be pretty obviously fake. Especially video AI. But imagine where we are going to be for the next election. Wow... truth just doesn't stand a chance anymore.
I'm not even worried about the next election. I'm more worried about AI video use to incite global conflict.
First, let's hope there is no victim. If there is, and this video makes it the public, it will have zero impact on this election. Has anyone been paying attention for the last 10 years? Nothing moves the needle away from him. Nothing. Frankly, it's the most disturbing aspect of it all.

That's exactly how I would usually feel if it weren't for prominent right wing social media folks pre-combatting it.
