Got some other 'fun' takes? Brave New World is actually a utopian novel? Last of the Mohicans is a lie because there were more Mohicans left? Gatsby wasnt very Great, just mediocre?

If they had actually defined that parental rights for minors wouldn't be infringed upon, and if the amendment wasn't so radical, I could be one of those Libertarian type Republicans who could cross the aisle and vote for this. But this amendment allows abortion right up until birth, way beyond the point of viability.

I'll only vote for abortion in Florida on the following conditions:

    - First Trimester only preferable, 15 weeks maximum.
    - Abortion banned after first trimester or 15 weeks with the only exceptions being for rape or health of the mother.

I'll be voting No on the Abortion Amendment which is a blow to it. Whether some of you like it or not, you need Republicans like me to vote Yes on this to push it over. If the amendment had the two points above, I would cross the aisle and vote yes on this. But with the amendment as written, it'll be a no for me.

Florida statute 390.011 defines viability in instances of an abortion and the amendment up for vote can not change that statute. It will remain and abortion would not be allowed past that except for exception(s). Florida's 6 week ban also currently has an exception for the mother's life up until birth. Even if this passes, the Florida Supreme Court and legislature will determine exceptions, etc. This is not going to be an abortion free for all like you incorrectly state. They will also define parental rights. There's no way they won't. Remember the Voter Restoration act that voters passed by 65%? The state legislature added road blocks and exceptions to it because they didn't like it.

Florida had a 15 week ban already on the books, but religious Republicans and Desantis forced the 6 week ban through bringing about this amendment. Maybe they should have compromised/left the old one in place instead of force this on the state? Especially if it passes the 60% threshold rebuking what they did. Most were fine with the 15 weeks except for the radical right.

    I’ll take 60% with 8% undecided… if that 8% splits it’s a win….

Hopefully people show up and vote… my main concern is turnout.

I think you are falling for the misinformation campaign of the Governor. First, the amendment clearly says “before viabilty” so abortion right to birth is false. Second, the amendment clearly says it won’t change parental notification laws, so that is false.

If you were serious when you said you would consider voting for it except for those two things, then I hope you’ll read it for yourself and reconsider.

No law shall prohibit, penalize, delay, or restrict abortion before viability or when necessary to protect the patient's health, as determined by the patient's healthcare provider. This amendment does not change the Legislature's constitutional authority to require notification to a parent or guardian before a minor has an abortion.

You're wrong, we don't need you. Your wife will vote yes and just not tell you. Your opinion is a mixture of bad information coupled with approval of governmental overreach. You are a LINO, a libertarian in name only.
