this class is cooked. Only way to salvage ANY of it is to finish the reg season with only 1 more loss and go NIL for flips cause we have NO JUICE on the trail, NONE. Would be shocked even if he earns a 4th year that this class ends close to the top 15
Billy’s lack of success on the field is really coming home to roost this year. I’ve never seen us doing this badly on the recruiting trail with the exception maybe of Mullen’s last year.
I imagine the staff isn't putting as much into recruitng atm because few recruits are giving them good signals. We'll see what happens. 15th plus an exceptional portal class in two seasons when this class is expected to contribute could still make it work.
i remember the chatter on twitter (take that for what it’s worth) from some UF beat writers was that this was always going to be a light class on numbers with HS recruiting this cycle. Why? IDK but i guess we’re going to have to go nuclear in the portal or/and NSD
My understanding was only 18-20 HS kids plus portal....I think the reason was for better class balance on the roster
Still need that backbone of continuity each year of kids that grow together. Allstar teams arent really teams at all.
Because doing that is not sustainable and is a big gamble... just ask FSU. It's feast or famine... The best teams like UGA, OSU, Texas A&M and others seem to balance the high school kids with the portal, and that's really the best way to go, IMHO. I don't like too much portal, nor do I like too much high school with little to no portal. I think balance is the key... but it has to be good high school talent for that balance to work out for a team. I still think we should get the best player we can from high school, even if it's a smallish class. The portal should never be our first option for talent.
