However this breach occurred, it concerns me. Heads need to roll, either that of the treasonist or of those in charge of protecting our computer systems.
I have been trying to think of reasons for the leak and there could be several: Someone obviously has Iranian ties and wants to help them out; Someone wants to delay the Israeli response until after the US election; It was a "planned leak" to trick the Iranians into protecting something by moving resources, exposing them to satellite coverage and then attack something else.
I think the leak came from someone on Kamala's team and Joe is pissed about it. They were already bickering behind closed doors, those two. You know Netanyahu is like "Joe, WTF?" They just tried to kill him in his home. I've said many bad things about Joe Biden, but if he finds out who did this, I believe he'll actually fire someone this time. It is treasonous and you know Netanyahu is already looking at the person who snubbed his speech to Congress.
I don't think it can be #3, because Biden has egg on his face with this, even if he had nothing to do with it (and he didn't). Think of how this looks to the world. #2 seems the most plausible and would explain Biden's particular public ire over the situation. It is not something you air out in public when it could easily be one of your own. So, it sounds like Biden has a pretty good handle on how it happened and he is not happy about it.
How iron clad is your source on this one? Don't get me wrong. It fits. Biden is suffering dementia, so the kids are running the classroom. Just curious if you can shed a little more light on how you know it's Sullivan.
My original thought was that the Israelis gave the US the plan knowing someone on Biden's team would leak it, but since it was generated by US intelligence that thought doesn't hold.
It is quite alarming, because if Israel flexes its muscles on the eve of the election, she is inevitably vulnerable to such a scenario.
No source. No inside information. That’s my best guess based strictly on who would have access to the intelligence, who had a motive to leak it, who had the means and opportunity to leak it, and who knew for certain that they could get away with it with impunity.
The motive is what I question. It was a treasonous act, so I don't think he can be protected. But you think Kamala is going to win and thus I suppose there is a way he can be protected (in a hypothetical situation where all the polls are wrong in favor of Trump). If that is indeed the situation, the motive is quite clear. Don't put Kamala in a position where she has to explain a widening war and not sound somewhat critical of Israel in the process. Tactically, it doesn't stop Israel from doing pretty much whatever they want to do. Not worth the risk if it's simply to delay the inevitable. Unless you think you have impunity. I get it.
Yes, I think he thinks he has impunity. And his motive is, leaking it probably prevents the Israelis from carrying out their attack (at least that one they had in mind). I believe he leaked Ukrainian plans on more than one occasion to get them not to do something he didn’t want them to do. I think Ukraine figured it out, and that’s why they didn’t tell us about their plan to invade Russia in July. As far as “treasonous” goes, a traitor rarely considers themself a traitor. If Jake Sullivan thought he was preventing a wider war, I don’t think he would hesitate to leak classified materials. I think he probably thinks it’s what the President would want him to do.
It'll be interesting to see what happens to some of these characters in a 2nd Trump administration. He will have the ultimate mandate of mandates.
Let’s say that happens. How do you get Sullivan to admit that it was him? You can’t make him testify before Congress. I think his position also gives him executive privilege from being interviewed by law enforcement. Is it circumstantial? He met with the media personnel involved. So what? He meets out of school with media all the time. It’s part of the job. Are you going to go after the media to reveal their source? I think case law has shown that is essentially pissing up a tree. If Sullivan was dumb enough to email it, then you might have something there on a couple of charges. But he wasn’t. I assure you this was a hand delivery of copies with the classification removed to 1. show no record of the materials being checked out; 2. give the journalist plausible deniability that the material was classified when they published it.
If the Trump administration set it out as a priority to hook Sullivan, they'd get him. For something totally unrelated, if need be. I have my doubts that will actually come to fruition. But then again, the first go around he let bygones be bygones and look where that got him. Something needs to be done about senior level government officials weaponizing the system against its people. This is a weaponization, because inevitably Iran are firing on American soldiers and diplomats. If they want [Sullivan] to catch a case, he will.
Quibble about this or that as we may, the one inevitable conclusion that this episode merely goes to confirm, as it's long been established, is that our intel apparatus is a porous, corrupt to the core, completely unreliable, up for !@#$%n sale, politicized, basterdized whore. There are differences bt Doh! and sKamala, but Joe has been kow towing to the Palestinian (Hamas) sympathising radical left since before Oct 7, 23. They're on the same side here, and it ain't BN's/Israel's.
