A quite timely story about how Russian disinformation ends up in American eyeballs and in some cases, brains, from posts that spread it like those from MTG and Elon Musk: The disinformation pipeline: How Russian propaganda reaches and influences the U.S.
Lol... Disinformation by people on the internet is Constitutional protected freedom of speech... When will the communists in the "Ministry of Information" get that memo.
Note to everyone. Get your info and confirm from multiple sources. And it’s ok to ask questions. We all don’t know everything about everything
Wondering if the story mentioned any agents named after loveable movie aliens, who have gone totally silent ever since the Russian troll farm got busted.....
The only questions they ask is "does this sound bad for democrats / gays / minorities and/or immigrants? ... yes. Okay then, I totally believe it!"
So the recent fake Tim Walz sexual accusations supposedly made by an ex-student were pushed by this Russian disinformation unit. They apparently have many willing dupes helping them here in the US, some on this board. Russian Propaganda Unit Appears to Be Behind Spread of False Tim Walz Sexual Abuse Claims
The only people who believe it at this point were going to vote for Trump anyway, but whatever helps you sleep at night...
So now we are scoreboarding? Assuming Trump doesn’t or isn’t able to do something catastrophically stupid (which is a big if) personally we will probably do better - my wife’s employer will likely do better because Biden admin is holding up Albertsons/Kroger merger which is killing their business. There are other estate tax considerations that would likely be more favorable under Trump. So I have resigned myself to Trump winning, and will enjoy the fruits of Americans stupidity and hope he doesn’t F stuff up too badly.
Efforts to fight foreign influence and protect elections in question under Trump https://www.npr.org/2025/02/11/nx-s...uir6rtIneRgNXivZaw_aem_-mqkGl7d1BixN3-Nyv7paQ The new Trump administration is moving quickly to roll back long-standing work to counter foreign influence in U.S. elections, work that began in the first Trump term after revelations about the extent and ambition of Russia's efforts to sway the 2016 election. Staffers working on countering foreign mis- and disinformation as well as a team of 10 regional election security advisers at the Department of Homeland Security's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) have been put on administrative leave, according to two sources directly familiar with the matter who spoke to NPR on condition of anonymity out of fear of reprisal. In addition to the disruption to CISA's work, Attorney General Pam Bondi also ordered an end to an FBI task force to combat foreign influence campaigns in American politics by Russia, China and other countries. The order seeks to "free resources to address more pressing priorities, and end risks of further weaponization and abuses of prosecutorial discretion, the Foreign Influence Task Force shall be disbanded." She also rolled back the Justice Department's enforcement of the Foreign Agents Registration Act that has been used to prosecute Americans receiving covert funding from other countries. In the weeks after Trump was inaugurated for his second term, experts hoped there might be a window to preserve CISA's functions and independence. Republicans toned down attacks on the agency, particularly after CISA was instrumental in revealing a widespread Chinese espionage campaign targeting U.S. telecoms that directly impacted Trump and Vice President JD Vance. CISA was initially excluded from a broader effort to shrink the federal government by President Trump's government team called the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE. ‐-------- Despite the appearance that CISA was safe, select employees were also given the offer of resignation for 8 months pay. Rolling back enforcement of FARA and greenlighting the bribing of foreign officials. This is how you MAGA? Corruption Rules!!!!1!! BDIHTBSO?!
