Can't say enough about this offseason pick up. Sure has looked like the best WR we've had in a LONG time. Had 3 catches for 149 yards. Smh. Thought this young man deserved his own conversation. He has certainly filled the void left by pearsall. He is just sick out there.
Wilson has to be diappointed with his output, but Badger and Dike have come in and have each looked like the top receiver on the team. The top 3 are legit to start most anywhere. Now having Lagway to get them the ball and legit rb, we have no excuses for a high power offense outside of the OL.
One of the many things I like about Badger is he can come up with a catch while being closely covered or in heavy traffic. We have needed this type of receiver for a while. His presence will make our young receivers better. Not the subject of this thread but, Dike was a find too.
About time we give recognition to our receivers, not named Wilson. Current top 5 receiving: Badger: 22/524 Dike: 21/420 Wilson: 19/266 Hansen: 9/145 Boardingham: 14/112
He is this season's Kyle Pitts, catching in traffic! Hope we can finish this season strong, I miss those days!
Yeah I'm sure he's disappointed, I think his skills are better suited to play with a mertz that is looking for the underneath guy first and if it's open he's throwing it. Lagway just reads the field and sees things so differently. I am surprised Wilson has only had 1 jet sweep since his injury? Idk if that's by design, more as a decoy or if he's still not 100% and he's just not being used the same. I feel like we see him touch the ball more against UGA.
maybe the staff finally realized that it doesn't work. Seems like we've ran it 10-12 times for a total of 6 yards.
I really expected Wilson to lead the team in receiving yards but badger seems to be a better route runner and overall more complete receiver. A great find by Billy.
Possibly Wilson is getting the most attention and tighter coverage, but he could also be a little banged up still. I don't care who catches the rock as long as it's one of our guys!
Would it be that given the same routes Badger does better, is open more often or they have different roles and routes that make Wilson less the target, especially if a deep ball?
On the year we have ran it that many times, I just meant since Wilson returned from injury, he's only had 1 jet sweep that i can remember and that was the 4th down play against UT.
This probably will not be popular, but Wilson is not an elite player. I think he is probably our 3-4 best receiver on this team. He probably looked elite compared to the talent we had the past two seasons, but this team has more talent now and it shows.
