He was necessary yesterday so maybe going forward too. Unfortunate maybe but it is what it is.

I called my Gator best friend a few minutes ago and said “so now that we play you next your team is starting to play ball…” Any given Saturday. We talked about going to the game but I’m not strong enough after my liver transplant and he’s battling Parkinson’s.

I also started our conversation as I have for more than the last 44 years with a quote from the movie “Used Cars” - “I want you baby, I got to have you!”

Football and friendships make great lasting memories.

3 more wins is 7-5 and most thought that would be a great season with the schedule we have. Fsu has to be one of the wins, he can't lose to that team to end the season. I think he's back if they beat fsu and end the year 7-5.

Bowl game is irrelevant. The decision to keep Napier must be made before the bowl game for several reasons. 3 more wins means Napier is staying.

If BN hits 6 wins, he will get another year. I have said this from the beginning.

I feel it is possible for 7 wins. If we can be competitive and win 7 games, I think most fans will swallow the pill of another year. If he starts 2025 season 1-2, he will be fired quickly.

DJ's arm makes this team different and we seem to have a solid defense. Where Mertz was better is in not making the mistakes. The only way to get DJ into mistake free football is experience.

  6. Yeah...It's a shame, but I agree: Bowl Games have become irrelevant now, unless you're in the Playoff.

It was not necessarily the losses to ScUM & TAM that fired everyone up, it was how those games were lost. Seemed to be physically manhandled and outcoached to the point that the lifeblood was sucked out of all Gator fans.

Now that level of play has greatly improved over the last 3 weeks, who knows what will happen. Think it would be difficult to fire CBN if the team goes 7-5 or 6-6. For whatever reason, the players really like him and seem to be committed.

My issue with him is that he is simply not a game day coach. Nothing is going to change that. He needs a dedicated play caller-game manager.

  8. THE FLORIDA GATORS ARE WINNING THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!

Just kidding. I will resist the temptation to buy into hope, but I will celebrate the win for a week.

Figured Lagway would learn on the job next year and be great in 26. But if he wins a couple and improves every game from here out he will be a factor on Napier’s retention.

That's not really a hypothetical. If he wins 3 more games, there's no way he is being fired. His biggest issue is that he cannot win the big games. If he beats one of LSU, Texas or especially Georgia, AND beats Ole Miss and FSU, he is getting another year.

Zook beat #6 LSU, #11 Arkansas, and #4 Georgia, three games in a row and all the way from home. Anything is possible.

By the way, the LSU loss to the Gators was the only blemish on Nicky’s championship year there.

What is the point here? That Zook should have remained coach but for his frat incident or that expectations have hit an all time low at Florida now? CBN hasn't had a single big time win in 2.5 years.

No, the point was that sometimes you can beat teams which on paper you have no business beating. The thread is about running the table on the rest of the Florida schedule.

I get it, but talent has not been the issue, so there is no reason for being a team that has no business beating other top teams. Having no business beating is a perception built from lack of performance and that's all on the coach. I hope we are at a turning point, but I have a hard time believing it against the top teams until it happens. The thing that gives me hope is Lagway, but that is too much to put on the shoulders of a true freshman.

Do you not count as big wins…
    #7 Utah in 2022?
    #11 Tenn in 2023?

No I don't consider either of those teams a great team, especially the 4 loss UTk team. Against a good defense they lost big. At least Utah had a good defense. Those rankings at the time were inflated.

At the time they played these were big wins. You can’t judge it by what happened to those teams after. Beating highly ranked teams are big wins.

The point is pretty much any win is a big one from here out. If he somehow wins 3 games, all of that is laid to rest. Even breaking the streak vs FSU would be big.

If he wins 7 , he will stay....providing no mass exodus.

But I remind everyone, this was the worst UK team in years.
