Indiana coach is looking pretty damn solid tbh. This is the first game I've watched this season, but I'm loving his aggression. Currently beating Nebraska 21-7 with over 2 minutes in the half and has gone 2/2 on 4th deep in Nebraska territory resulting in 14 points

 

In fairness very few active coaches have a winning record against the Top 25. Those that do are entrenched at their programs and are not coming to UF.

 

Yes no doubt that ownership is meddling in the dallas org. That is also a concern with a gm model that doesnt have the HC above the gM

 

Yeah a buyout. So, structure the next contract to be shorter but with a higher per year. What would be cheaper with Napier, a 5 year 10 million per with %50 buyout or what he actually got?

The rest is based on hiring the wrong coach, not the interval. A lot of people seem to have just accpeted the narrative it is due to the churn while ignoring Urban was hired after a 3 year churned coach. I would rather fire a bad coach after 2 years to try again than watch a bad coach flounder.

 

So in other words, fire Billy today and hire anybody out of desperation and roll the dice with the odds stacked against us.

Cig is the guy. Full stop. Not the first time I've watched them this season. They are always aggressive and disciplined. Hell of a turnaround from a year ago.

It's Cignetti or bust for me. This dude is for real and he has the cocky bravado we'd love, plus the winning acumen we need. If he goes 10-2 or better, I hope we throw the checkbook at him. Give me a proven winner to rebuild us. I'd be disappointed with anyone else but him at this point.

But unfortunately it's looking more and more likely that they may squeak into the playoff and that would essentially eliminate our chances. But damn is that impressive. Hoping they get left out barely - because it's still an incredible coaching job if he wins 10 games.

 

Carry on, for a complex thinker you are obtuse to the intricacies of the game beyond statistics. As i have tried to explain (badly i’m sorry) the parts dont function in a vacuum. No healthy organization lacks a chain of command to weave consistency throughout the organization.

There is a place for new positions to assist in the emerging landscape of college football but decentralizing the structure will not yield overall better results.

 

I'm watching what I now believe is the best canidate Cignetti put a whoopin on Nebraska. What did I miss with my divided attention.

The price to pay for keeping a bad coach beyond 3 years is significantly higher than firing a bad coach after 3 years. At least with the fire you have renewed hope, renewed interest and the potential for success. Keeping a bad coach just locks in bad football and weak revenue.

 

He is so obviously Florida. A balls out offensive guy is who we are. Kiffin is that as well. The last thing we want is some conservative styled mild mannered HC

 

Now you are not listening. I firmly believe ANY coach hire is more likely to fail than succeed. That is BETTER than the 100% proven failure we have currently. I would have picked UF to beat UK if we had an interim HC.

I think we're getting hung up on the notion of "hire anybody." Hire the best candidate available with the understanding that a lot of the current "best guys" weren't splash hires so we shouldn't be fixated on "muh proven."

 

Given Florida’s history, shouldn’t the first criteria be that the candidate be a son of a preacher and not a son of a football coach?

 

Urban called Indiana the best coached team in college football during the halftime show.

Let's see if they can close the game out. That pick will certainly help.

Cignetti has been a winner everywhere he has coached and turned all four teams around in the first year. He is my pick for our coach.

 

I actually want Cig more than Kiffin. I get why the Kiffin hype was popular with the fanbase, but to me it's a fleeting infatuation. Would Kiffin be better than what we have? No doubt. But I'm not convinced he wouldn't use us as a stepping stool, nor am I fully convinced he could withstand the heat and expectations here.

But more than anything I want a seasoned guy who can come and win immediately. Cignetti just exudes all the qualities I'm looking for. Dude also doesn't give af about outside noise - clearly. But then again, I don't think he's ever had much of any. Lol
