FYI...Lagway was listed as the starting QB on the dept chart for the Samford game. Mertz was not even listed due to being on the Concussion Protocal.
Besides Lagway, the best thing the Gators have going for them will be the at home fans. As of yesterday afternoon, Montrell Johnson was listed as questionable. Thus the Gator running game is questionable as well. Yes, Kentucky's recored is 3 and 3, just like the Gators. As for the current national total defense and offense rankings: Florida Defense is 82nd. Kentucky Defense is 4th. Florida Offense is 58th. Kentucky Offense is 92nd. Pivot points for this game: The Kentucky defense appears to be solid. The Gator O-line will need to produce a stellar perfromance. They need to protect Lagway and to open up the running lanes. The Kentucky offense is at the best, very questionable. The Gators should be able to exploit it. The Gator D needs to keep the Kentucky Offense off the field (no long drives nor quick TD's). Basically, this game should be Napier's to win. For that to happen, Napier needs to be a different coach than what we have seen in the past three seasons. He needs to: Not be predictable like he has been in the past. Put Lagway in the position to win. Have command of game. Especially with play calling, subsitutions, and using Time Outs. Hopefully the home crowd will make The Swamp a very uncomfortable visit for the Wildcats. Gators 24 Wildcats 15.
If our Gators are going to win, it will have to be a 24-17 game. If the same Kensucky defense shows up like they did against UGAG, they Cats win 17-9.
Kentucky will bring a good defense. Hoping our D can match the intensity and bring it again. Lags will makes some plays with his legs and the Gators end the slide against the Cats in a low scoring game. Gators 17 Cats 13
