Meanwhile Trump turns in a disastrous interview with Telemundo. Utterly bizarre answers or non-answers.

The voters’ questions were polite yet pointed, and Mr. Trump kept his composure, avoiding the hostility he often exhibits when similarly questioned by the news media.

But Mr. Trump did not directly engage with many of the thoughtful questions from these voters. Skirting specific answers, he retreated to his standard campaign language, often talking up the achievements of his administration and making vague promises for the future. He would not say whether he believed climate change was a hoax, and he defended his role in overturning Roe v. Wade without staking out a position on abortion.

Watched a little. Just the usual lies. "Emptying out insane asylums."

Will never understand how adult Americans tolerate a candidate who tells almost nothing but outright lies.

Who will do the hard jobs? Trump says African Americans and Hispanics will get those jobs that were taken from them back.

It's bad that he lies but it's worse that he's a mental deficient in the stages of dementia who really doesn't understand asylum has 2 meanings.

He probably thought it was Mariachi music night and was wondering when he could start “dancing”.

This is categorically, undeniably, and very sadly, TOTALLY UNHINGED on every level. I don't even know where to start.

    I agree.

The worst might be that grown adults tolerate these absolute lies. Tough to say....

No dispute here. The people who tolerate the lies and the insanity are to mostly to blame. But more to blame, and the absolute worst, are the far right-wing propaganda machines and spineless and cowardly far-right politicians who lie to their base solely to line their pockets.

The misinformation, the outrageous and blatant lies, the culture wars and the greed of those particular scumbags are what will be this country's undoing.

So many lies packed into a 2 minute answer from Trump. Immigrants aren't stealing jobs from black and Hispanic people. Farmers are actually doing better under Biden than they did under Trump. Trump's own campaign can't produce a single shred of evidence any country is emptying out insane asylums and sending people across the border. And during his term, Trump reduced the number of legal immigrants allowed into the country.

Trump is right in one small aspect. Soybean farmers are still struggling under Biden. But that's because they were causalities of Trump's trade war with China during Trump's term. Makes one wonder what a second Trump term with 20% blanket tariffs would do to our farmers, who are large exporters of things like dairy, nuts, corn, beef, pork, and cotton, to name a few.

    So glad someone raised this!
I mentioned in other posts the frankly garbage logic being applied about how tariffs work and who ultimately bears that cost - the US people, not overseas firms.
But you rightly mention, no trade block like the EU, or China and so on, will just accept their goods being treated like that. Retaliatory tariffs will go on US products and in the same way he wants demand to fall in the US, it'll hurt your exports too.

It's why you'll be hard pressed to find many economists or business leaders in favour of increasing barriers to trade.
He said tariff is his favourite word.
    It's absolutely unhinged.

I remember in college, Professor David Conrad was teaching a course, maybe European Polity? Anyway he made a point something like the third reich was kind of like if you elected the garbage men to run your country. Now Conrad was awfully full of himself and I respect garbage men but I wouldn’t give them the nuclear codes.

I made two edits. I originally called prof Conrad, Joseph Conrad, I don’t think his heart was that dark. lol I also had an extra the in there.
