It helps to know why this is such a big deal. In China, the best of the best students go to college to study finance. Not medicine, not law, not engineering, but finance. The top jobs in China are government jobs that decide which projects get funded. The second best jobs are banking and investment jobs. The fact that salaries for the best jobs (and the most capable employees) are severely deflated (50%!) is an indication that the entire economy is in severe trouble, and people are terrified of where this is heading, as you would expect. There is no amount of high-speed trains that can make up for an economy heading towards the toilet, and consumer confidence heading for zero.

China's exports missed the forecast for September, extinguishing the one bright spot in China's economy. China is in full-on panic mode as the entire nation's imports, exports, and production slowly grinds to a halt.

China's exports miss forecasts as lone bright spot fades

Taiwan is participating in China's large-scale military drills around the island, using F-16's to track Chinese J-15 jets and lock on to them with something called a sniper pod surveillance system. Looks like Taiwan is not intimidated at all by China.

Video shows one of Taiwan's F-16s tracking a Chinese J-15 fighter jet with its sniper pod during war games

Only a loser brags about the shipbuilding capacity of their favorite communist country. The real issue is the ship-sinking capacity of the country, and whether it exceeds the shipbuilding capacity of another country. Well, for the U.S., it's ship-sinking capacity greatly exceeds the ship-building capacity of China. That's all one really needs to know about the state of affairs of the two countries: China = better at making targets, and U.S. = better at sinking targets.

China has injected a half a trillion dollars into their real estate markets, with no success in reviving their collapsing economy. Investors are hoping that the government increases its investment to $1.4 trillion. All of this money going to real estate means less money available for social services, as 40% of China's people get by on less than $2,000 per year. (You know that China is not going to short-change their military, or give up on their desire to invade Taiwan.) Sad situation when a mis-managed communist country's economy craters.

China arrests four Taiwanese employees of Foxconn for the vague crime of "breach of trust". Looks like these four shouldn't have trusted the Chinese government.

China's only race is a race to the bottom. Their economy does not look good, and their people have no faith in it. They have lost European countries and the U.S. as trusting customers. They are having to deal with sanctions from the world's number one economy. They have tremendous short-term and long-term internal problems, and no idea how to solve them. Their people are losing trust in their leadership. It will take a while to hit rock bottom, but as long as China continues on its militant path, the rest of the world will not want to deal with them.

Never trust anyone who is too drunk to spell "missiles" or anyone dumb enough to quote such a person. They are probably lying or exaggerating.

A good article with ideas on how to deter China from invading Taiwan. This author says that the west needs to threaten China's assets away from Taiwan. Ideas include:

    1) Close the Straits of Malacca to vessels delivering oil (70% of China's demand) to China.

    2) Sink China's ocean-going fishing fleet.

    3) Attack China's military and economic assets around the world.

Opinion - To deter a war over Taiwan, threaten Chinese interests far from it

The U.S. talks like it would be willing to spill the blood of Americans to defend Taiwan’s right to break away from China.

    But just let Texas secede.
