It's "thinking outside the box" to do interviews? Perhaps for Harris personally it is, but most politicians understand interviews are part of running for office. That's why you don't wait until the last minute to start doing them. So, I don't think even Harris had to think outside the box to know doing interviews was probably a good idea. However, in this case, because it's not really outside the box for politicians, Harris is only making herself look worse, because it's an obvious admission of guilt and desperation to do these interviews now when she has declined almost every interview for two months.

An interview like Bret Baier should have been done in late July or early August. Before the DNC. Get it out of the way so you can say you did it, because you know you're going to take your lumps with Bret Baier. Give it time to fade from the public memory. By doing this interview less than 3 weeks from Election Day, she gave Trump free advertising and there's not a single Fox News viewer who said "oh I gotta vote for Kamala now" after she screamed at Bret Baier for 10 minutes like a tyrant.

On edit: I'm putting lipstick on a pig here. Kamala was always going to be in trouble as soon as people got to know more about her record, but the point I am trying to make is, she came this far without doing interviews. May as well make the most of that strategy as possible, because the more people know about her, the more her numbers tank. And I'm not saying that as a partisan. The same thing happened in the 2020 primary. She started off with a bang and as people got to know more about her and she did a couple of horrible interviews, she dropped out of the race before the first primary. This is not a small thing. It's rare that a candidate begins with such high polling numbers and doesn't at least keep their name in for the first primary.

The beautiful thing about the @BretBaier interview is that @KamalaHarris understood and responded to each question. She used examples of policies. She gave real world context. When Brett went hard after her. She didn’t call him names. She didn’t quit the interview. She didn’t make things up. She never once complained the questions were tough. She never played the victim card. She didn’t lose her temper. She didn’t take the bait to diminish or talk down to Trump supporters. She stood up to him with force and never backed down. He has been the President and campaigning for 9 years. Kamala Harris has caught up to him in just 100 days . That speaks volumes. It’s why people want to vote for her.
