I think it was 5. Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey are generally known for opposing restrictive immigration policies. Alex Padilla specifically opposed the bill because it didn't address root causes of migration or provide pathways to citizenship for Dreamers and long-term undocumented residents. Bob Menendez typically advocates for comprehensive immigration reform. Chuck Schumer’s "no" vote was procedural, allowing the bill to be reconsidered later. Those who opposed it thought it was too conservative. Meanwhile the GOP voted against it because daddy Trump told them to. Because politics. Absolutely pathetic.

There were more crossings and S border encounters in 2019 than any year under Obama. How does this represent a secure border? Current FY numbers are even lower than 2017. As for why Harris did the interview? To reach the 15% of Haley voters who are never Trumpers. Harris is hoping to convince them not to stay home or vote third party. Get enough of them to flip, and it could turn a swing state or two.

I just watched the interview in full and I thought she handled herself pretty well. She didn’t let BB bulldoze her and she successfully avoided the numerous traps he laid out. She came across as assertive and competent and substantive. She exceeded my expectations.
