Things I've learned from TH conservatives:

The border is like a door with locks
The US Budget is like paying your household bills with a credit card
    Counter-terrorism is like a barfight
Defeating Russia is like killing a fox before it gets in a henhouse
Israel isnt an apartheid state despite its codified Jewish supremacy
Checking your ID at a public event with security and fencing is like voter ID/border walls
Guns are just tools like a screwdriver or hammer
Owning basic consumer items like a phone/TV/car means you have to much money for food stamps and are cheating the system
People born female are actually men if they are too good at competitive boxing

Its been an education to say the least

NEW: FBI updates crime statistics showing that violent crime *increased* not decreased.

Trump was fact-checked during the debate after he (correctly) asserted that crime had increased.

New data reveals violent crime increased in 2022 by 4.5%, not decreased like the left claimed.

Violent crimes in 2022: There were 80,029 more violent crimes compared to 2021.

    This included an additional:
    - 1,699 m*rders
    - 7,780 r*pes
    - 33,459 robberies
    - 37,091 aggravated assaults

A significant portion of crimes remain unreported.

According to the National Crime Victimization Survey, only about 45% of violent crimes and 30% of property crimes are reported to the police.

For some reason, he didn't mention that was primarily because of the revision down in 2021 (from 377.6 to 360.9). In fact, violent crime still would have been down in 2022 with the revisions if not for the dramatic drop in 2021 numbers. I wonder why your source didn't mention that...

I don't know much about when and how they process the data, but it looks like some 2023 data came out last month.

    https://www.fbi.gov/news/press-releases/fbi-releases-2023-crime-in-the-nation-statistics

    September 23, 2024

The FBI’s crime statistics estimates, based on reported data for 2023, show that national violent crime decreased an estimated 3.0% in 2023 compared to 2022 estimates:

    • Murder and non-negligent manslaughter recorded a 2023 estimated nationwide decrease of 11.6% compared to the previous year.
    • In 2023, the estimated number of offenses in the revised rape category saw an estimated 9.4% decrease.
    • Aggravated assault figures decreased an estimated 2.8% in 2023.
    • Robbery showed an estimated decrease of 0.3% nationally.

I used to sell home security systems. One of the reasons I got out: when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

Crime rate is up. Crime rate is down.

Is it permissible to say the crime rate is distressingly high ?

10+ million people entering the country over the last few years without a reasonable and specific understanding of who they are, where they’ve gone, and why they’re here

What is it that you would like to know about them? The vast majority of those folks filed for asylum. That gives the "why they're here." They obviously have to provide "who they are" as part of that process (any deception is a pretty automatic rejection). What are you looking for in terms of "where they've gone?"

I’m honestly not sure who to believe. The counter-argument is that you can’t count crimes unless they’re turned in …

When has our border ever been "secure." Please don't say under Trump. Because border encounters tell a different story. 2019 saw more border encounters than any year under Obama.

Notice the smallest years on this graph. All before 1964. Before 1964, we had the Bracero Program which allowed legal guest workers into the country. A similar type program which was twice suggested by a bipartisan Senate committee in 2007 and again in 2013 with the Gang of 8.

Awesome - the belittling of fellow Americans began as quickly as Page 2.
Cool to challenge someone's perspective and opinion.
Not so cool to call people names; though, it's a bigger reflection on the ones doing it than those who they try to mock.

I'm 100% for folks choosing to identify however they want. Can't seem to understand why some want to identify as an asshole. To each his/her own.

In this case your "opinion" is a metaphor that a child would produce. Sorry it was easy to see through and you got made fun of for it.

People generally want to know who is in their home and why they are there.
So, the metaphor of wanting to know who is in our country and why they are there is apt.

If it was so poorly formed you guys wouldn't have to caricature. IOW, methinks thou dost protest too much.
