What’s happening in America today is something darker than a misinformation crisis.

Ha! That's bloody funny. Who can you trust when the people who proclaim we can trust them can't be trusted?!!

(I don't mean to knock the wind out of your sails, though, I've genuinely never even heard of her. Not sure I'm ready to annoint her as a national fact checker on my behalf just yet...)

EDIT: Oh it's a Telegraph article. Do you have access to the full story?
The Telegraph and the BBC... that's like asking Chris Rock to provide a character statement in defense of Will Smith. They don't like each other one iota. Not saying it's not true but even I would take that with a pinch of salt until I could corroborate it...

I kept up with U.K. pretty assiduously during pan-panic. And she was the face of misinformation control.

    Haha!

I swear I never even heard of her once and I'd say I'm pretty well tuned into current affairs over here. Fair play to you, you must love the BBC more than I!

You really are dumb. Ukraine's conscription age is 25. They have millions of potential troops between 18 and 25 that they haven't tapped. They also have recruitment in many NATO and other countries. They have the best equipment and better morale than Russian troops who have to have Chechens stand behind them in case they run so they can be shot.

On the other hand Russians are now regularly sending 50-60 year old men to the front, their prisons have been cleaned out, their mercenaries tried to rebel and were conscripted and their military is generally in shambles. Their casualties are astronomical, their equipment is running out, they money is running out - probably they have realistically less than a year.

It is going to be a cold winter for those 50 and 60 year old men they put into the field. The Ukrainians on the other hand are on home turf, will be rotated home, and will see their families again before returning to the field. The Russians have to kill their men in their meat assaults so no one at home knows the truth about how long you last on the battlefield in Ukraine.

It has gotten so bad, Russia needs garbage North Korean munitions and now, actual NK troops to come fight for them - 10,000 of who the first 18 have already went AWOL.

Russians are surrendering all over the battlefield and are being killed by their own forces when they do. They are at the breaking point.

    Viva la Revolutiona!

I read somewhere … Frost-bitten Russian troops, the few that are left, subsisting on a diet of zoo animals - and armed only with shovels - has the White House ready to pull the plug on this whole proxy war thing.

In sense you’re correct in that the Dems do not control Hurricanes but, they try to control everything else by hook or by crook.

Does misinfo create mobs or mobs create misinformation. Or Bots, it’s always Russian bots

Given the effort put into creating misinformation, I have to think that misinformation creates the environment that leads to mobs. And certain groups are pumping up the misinformation in hopes of getting people to put aside reason and act on emotion.

LOL at you people who are alarmed that the Great Unwashed won’t believe ‘The Party’ line …

Maybe we should overwhelm Apparatchiks with thought crimes.

Don’t you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought? In the end we shall make thought-crime literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it”. – Orwell’s 1984

I imagine most of the people who share misinformation think it's true. That's probably true with Trump. He heard or read it somewhere, it makes the other side look bad so he repeats it. Sometimes, he obviously just makes it up.
The thing I've always wondered about is the person who creates that meme, that post in the first place. Some of the misinfo farms that have been written about have a clear purpose - get clicks, earn money.

I don't know your information source, so all I can hope is that you're right. I have heard, however, that Russia may try to use North Korean troops. Can you imagine how much closer that would take us to WWIII and the use of nuclear weapons?

So many don't seem to appreciate - or care - that a Russian victory over Ukraine will not only upset the balance of power, but, more importantly, subject the Ukrainians to Putin's cruel thumb.
