Mailing it in makes suggestions about Napier and our players. Hopefully they fight hard every game win or lose. The writing has been on the wall and they are still playing hard.
All of this has truth in it, but the reality is teams that should not win, sometimes do. Vandy beats Bama, Kentucky beats Ole Miss, Georgia State beats Vandy. I am not saying it is going to happen, but (and that is a BIG BUT) if they beat Kentucky (and I think that is in the realm of possibility). There is a chance of them shocking one of these teams (GA, LSU, TX, Ole Miss). We have enough talent to shock a better team. Undoubtedly, everything would have to fall in our favor, but it might happen. We are not as terrible as we thought, when we started the season 1-2. This is not the worst Gator team in the last 30 years, nor is it where we want it to be. I believe this team is better talent wise than the last 3 years, but we are still crippled by Buffoonery.
Team has to be devastated by the tenn loss. Can't imagine the players have much faith in this coaching staff. If an offensive player can't trust a coach to run 11 guys out there on special teams, one of the most basic rules in the sport, how can you trust them at all. there has to be so much chatter among the players and frustration -- a chance to win 3 games in a row, and maybe a 4th this weekend and actually have some momentum going into the remainder of the most brutal schedule in sport and the coaching staff lets you down.
Are they? I really wonder how NIL changes that dynamic. They still get paid regardless of a win or a loss, there is no incentive in their contract that they get extra for wins or whatever. They get paid regardless of outcome, which is the same for the coaches but coaches has incentives built in for making bowls, playoffs etc. I'm sure they are upset but not sure about devastated.
I do not think the team is sitting around reading fans posting about possibilities is having any effects on their season. I surely hope they are focused on the next game. If not that is on the coaches.
That’s what I believe too. We don’t mean much with our opinions but toxic fanbases don’t go unnoticed and they do need our support. I believe be positive does make a difference.
Too bad Napier didn't go for two, I'm not a coach so my opinion means nothing, but on the road, against a ranked team, and your a 17 point dog, I go for the W EVERY TIME. If a staff does not have confidence in gaining 3 yards, to potentially win the game with 29 seconds left, why would one be confident of winning the OT with the first string QB and running back out, and having been outscored 17 to 7 from the middle third and 4th quarters? Just me, if a victory is in reach, I say take it, especially if you are 3 - 2. While it's being hinted at Gator Nation is fast coming to the conclusion this staff is just not up to the task when the pressure is on.
Difficult to get where the team is. They didn’t look good at home against a very bad UCF team (UCF improved some with recent change at QB). And UF were 2 TD underdogs against a good Tenn team playing at Rocky top and the game went to the wire.
Huh? We were underdogs in our own house but looked good for the entire first half against UCF. In the second half coaching was conservative on the offensive side but the game was never in doubt.
I respect your wishful thinking. However, losing Mertz is like losing a vital linchpin. The jury is still out on Montrell's injury status. Having Lagway being the first string QB is something to be excited about. However, he is still a Freshman. A Freshman playing behind at the best a poor offensive line. Also, he is playing with the Napier Playbook that needs to be burned. UGA, Texas, and LSU have the Gators overmatched on both sides of the line of scrimage. Kentucky, Old Piss, and FSU are our best bet to squeeze a win. Winning all three is very iffy at the best. I expect after the LSU game, the Gator players will be more interested in the Portal than they will be in playing Ole Piss and FSU. At this time Napier is a injured man walking death road with a crutch. If he has not already, he will be loosing the team and his assistant coaches. I do not pity him because, after the next three games, he will be a Rich Man Walking due to a big payoff (thanks to his seperaton package).
Depends on how Lagway does. There is a possibility that he absolutely takes over and dominates. Probably not a large probability, but stranger things have happened. As a Gator fan, hoping for it. Still so frustrated that Billy was too stubborn to get an OC. This could have looked so different this season thus far. Team has talent.
I don’t pity him but I feel bad for him. I think he has made the effort and has to know it’s just about over. He should’ve had at couple more wins a year but this isn’t a championship roster.
Which is why it was so maddening to watch his apparent lack of urgency. Did he actually believe that he could struggle for 3 straight years and retain his position? After 3 years of futility, with no apparent light at the end of the tunnel, no one in the Florida fanbase believes at this point that we would get any different results no matter how long he is given. He needed to hit the ground running here and build some good will here while implementing his "process." He didn't and now he is suffering the consequences of his inaction.
One more game, probably against FSU. But I hope DJ surprises us and win additional one or two for us.
Every player on the special teams squads should be a captain by counting the players... Each player takes a head count... But that seems too HARD TO FIGURE OUT... Some would rather we just be a laughing stock of football.
Back when there used to legit tackle football, the holder counted the guys on the line. If there were more than 9 then there was a problem.
