He said it was best to kill the fox before it gets in the henhouse, and then said, well you cant actually kill the fox. I suppose that sums up both the wars we are actively aiding. We sure are letting a lot of hens be killed in the process of protecting them from the thing we all agree cant be killed, arent we? American foreign policy is just "well as long as the fox is suffering, and its not our hens dying."

    Fox, hen, bla, bla, bla,,,,

    Simple question.

What would you do if you were the president? (Ukraine/Russia current situation)

Me? If I was president of the US I would be assassinated before I could do anything, like disband the empire and apologize to the world for being "the great Satan" since WWII. The fact that you or others cant think of what else to do is kind of the problem here, I think. Just the logic of empire and US dominance for dominance's sake that defies partisanship. This is why I said even if Russia occupies Ukraine militarily, we will still be in a proxy war as it just turns into a different kind of war, one of resistance/terrorism. Because its clear from the posts here our motives are mainly weakening Russia, that's the prize here for our armchair military enthusiasts & generals, not a Ukraine free of domination by one sphere or the other. There are no ethics here, because what is Russia doing that Israel hasn't done 10 fold? Its just about who's team you are on, and what set people you identify with.

I just told you what I'd do, but the guy arguing that nothing will change no matter who wins the election was correct. The American Empire will continue doing what it does. Anyone who for real gets elected will be trapped by the same logic, because that's the country we live in, one that can not escape its own desire to dominate or find new threats to its dominance. They are always problems to be managed by force of arms or economic warfare.

Maybe you could expound on “disband the empire and apologize to the world?”

We've never really demilitarized since WWII, and even when the Cold War ended (which was unnecessary and the result of our choices), we continued to find new enemies to keep the security state alive, terrorism, China, Iraq, non-communist Russia, etc. That's essentially what I'm calling for, the demilitarization of the country and the apparatus around how that power is sustained, whether is defense contractors, the budget, the vast network of security agencies, selective service, top research universities, etc ... even the Constitution itself. I fully understand no one with this type of platform would be let anywhere near the nomination of a major political party, but that is why American foreign policy is remarkably consistent and has been consistent since WWII. Most of the arguments here on foreign policy just turn on who appears "tougher" to the enemy of the week or who can most honorably run this sort of unholy monstrosity we've created. Anyways, it seems like if we keep it going, it will result in the same fascism we defeated by creating this militarized state in the first place ... very poetic I suppose.

That's kinda everyone's foreign policy. Countries act in their own interests. PERIOD! We're probably better than most in that regards, but aren't immune to the cynical nature of it.

And they'd eat you (and us) for lunch, because they're no different and probably worse. Key metric to look at when judging other countries in these regards. Self Criticism. If you see none (Putin, CCP, etc) they are frauds. And then there are countries like ours, where people like you can (rightly) post this without a single concern about knocks on the door, etc. and where the best and most strident critiques come from within their system. At this point, the American left cares more and is doing more to help the Palestinians than anyone in the Arab/Muslim world. And you still think we're the bad guys?

That said, some do deserve an apology. Foremost being the Iranian PEOPLE, who we absolutely screwed in 1953 so John and Allen Dulles (Dulles & Dulles) could come good for their client (BP).

Actually, Ukraine is mostly about keeping Russia off the borders of Poland, Romania and Moldova (which would be toast if Ukraine fell). As for the dithering, that's a D thing as Sullivan and Biden were foolish enough to think they could "manage" the war. You don't "manage" wars. You play to win or you don't play. This is why MAGA are the biggest traitors of our lifetime. We desperately needed to push Biden from THE RIGHT, not the Chomsky left like MTG and the rest of the MAGA traitors. Yet another thing that can be chalked up to the base stupidity of MAGA.

Oh, and not to poop on your parade, but US deployments are at their lowest since Vietnam and have been dropping for decades.

This is not at all surprising. Having learned that we cannot fight a proper war against a near-peer opponent, let alone a peer opponent, we now fight wars with other people. See: Ukraine.

I trust my eyes and people who actually know what they're talking about, not political hacks and Russian spy agencies. I have to say, you are a special kind of POS with your constant running down of our military and soldiers.

Here's a hint. We would wipe the floor with them in a matter of days, if not hours. And THAT'S what we're worried about. What will your little pillowbiter-in-chief Putin do then? Probably be a giant gash and launch a nuke like the coward he is.

The only way we prevail, against the hardened and going from strength-to-strength Russian army is by sending our trannies to the frontline and hoping the Russians laugh to death.

And here’s a twist. I’m a better American than you are because I’m not America right or wrong, however wrong. I expect better of my country.

You ? Apparently there is no invasion based on false pretenses, no violent meddling in the affairs of other nations and no ravaging of other countries through using them to fight appointed enemies for which you will not apologize.
