There was no play. The clock ran out. Keep up.

Mertz being sacked is absolutely not the real issue. He was blasted by guys who essentially went unblocked. Is it ideal? No, but it is way down the list of problems.

It's like the coach threw a ticking time bomb to Mertz and blaming him for not diffusing it fast enough. So dumb.

UT showed pressure too, where is the hot route? Do we not have those? Who should probably add those to his offense?

    It was 100% Napier

    TO off an incompletion

Called a screen with no second play ready

    Called verts against heavy pressure

    Then obviously the ST blunder

Your assessment is right on in my opinion....and In fairness, our offense was probably confused by our defense getting an INT and giving them great field position. ;)

While humorous, Billy Napier 2 min offense failing to get points having got the ball at the opponents 11 yard line with 1:11 and 1 timeout is even more comical in the way you have to laugh so you don't cry.

The misuse of time outs happens with such regularity, I now believe it is part of Billy’s playbook.

Pretty obvious explanation if you ask me, but we should argue like a bunch of bitches instead

The irony the 12 men is the most forgivable part of that sequence given the mix up due to injury.

Napier just being totally unprepared on downs 1-3 were the unforgivable part.

I didn't like Mertz being blamed. You're welcome to just not open the thread and/or stop reading.

If this was the first time we had a special team screw up (12 men on the field, misuse of timeouts, delay of game and other penalties, etc,) I'd care about the details/blame but at this point I've just come to expect the worst. It's all on the CEO.

The bigger picture is BN loses again to a hated rival, another road loss and another game closer to his exit.

He figured out how to go up and down the field on a decent defense without a good oline but he couldn’t figure out how to get the points.

When we were kids and had to sub in, we knew who we were subbing in for right? Hmmm, why are we both still standing here Jimbob?

I’m still wondering how the coaches knew there was an injured player?

On the opposite side of having 12 men, Oregon INTENTIONALLY put 12 guys on the field against Oh ho ho state to run 4 seconds off and only give them 5 yards. Kept them out of field goal range and they didn't have enough time to run another play and get the field goal. Read an article about it.
