Curious as to how many people would actually not lock their doors to their home and allow any random person to enter. Obviously, certain situations (i.e. I live 20 miles from the nearest person and my dogs would be barking up a storm if someone approached the house) would lean toward not locking doors. But, for the majority of us urban or suburban dwellers I'm curious as to what percentage of Gator country members do not lock their doors. Feel free - or not- to explain why.
Would lock 100% of the time, even if I lived an hour from civilization. If for no other reason because it's effortless and if there happens to be a strong gust and for whatever reason the door was not latched, I don't want my home to be exposed to the elements for a long period of time if I am away. Also remember that most fugitives realize country folk sometimes don't lock their doors.
In case you are reading this babe, I lock up every time without fail. Also, I have never left the keys in the outside of the door overnight.
The expression goes something like locks keep an honest person out. If someone wants in they'll get in. That said, locking doors prevents crimes of opportunity or deranged people from stumbling in. I try to keep my car empty and my doors unlocked so if any dirtbags want to steal anything they don't break a window though.
No. I just got home. Door was unlocked, no one home. My daughter stopped by our ski condo last week to get the key to the clubhouse so she could use the hottub. Deck door was wide open & no one's been there for 3 weeks. That was a mistake b/c it is just not a high priority. when we are there in the summer we sleep with all doors open....only screen doors with no locks. I lived in a house in Texas that only had a screen door for a front door & it had no lock. My BR floor was so uneven that I made a strap to strap my chair (with wheels) to my desk to keep me from rolling backwards. 5 of us lived there for $200 total rent.
Front door always stays locked but I rarely use it. I go out the garage and close that. And I get a text whenever the garage door is opened/closed. I don’t lock the door between the house and garage. I also have an alarm system but never arm it
Nope But I have three large dogs that do not like unwelcome or invited guest. Amazon delivery won’t come in n the courtyard because the dogs bark so much At the cabin.. well you need 4low to get to it with 1 water crossing. Meth heads were run out a few years ago ( or they died out). so no real worries up there. We lock up when we leave to come to FL but not while living there.
I live in downtown DeLand. A small town that is developing delusions of grandeur. I don’t lock my door but my 70 pound dog keeps inviting strangers in to play. No takers so far.
I have always done that but it never worked twice I had old smokers windows broken out in unlocked trucks.
Sorry - next question concerns your “TPS” reports. By the way, did you get the memo? Yeah, that’s great. I’ll make sure we fax you a copy of the memo. Good talk.
Could be wrong, but it's too hot so thread seems like a front for an immigration comment to me. First of all, I couldn't live 20 miles from the nearest person.. I've always felt safer in the big city with people around than in rural areas where I don't know what's out there. As for locks, front door is always locked but we go in/out the garage. Wife insists on it. I'm pretty indifferent, and rarely lock up when I go on bike rides/walks. I trust people for the most part and have never had an issue. Don't carry a gun either. Live in a safe neighborhood. No, you can't have my address.
I have to ask my butler. No idea. What is a lock? — DJT if someone breaks into my house, they’re getting shot. — KH
100% correct. We have, arguably 50% of folks who favor essentially open borders; yet, we have over 85% of folks who lock their own doors. Why not lock the doors of the country? Let in who we want to let in and keep those unwanted out of our house.
Don’t lock my doors except at night when we are here and my wife demands it. Never lock during the day evening when we are gone for the day or out for the evening. I’m the last house on a dead-end road and all my neighbors are broke down boomer escapees from FL (true fact) like me so no crime aged males hanging about and we look out for one another. A couple of them even have keys.
Lock up at night, have rear facing garage that's open all day and I'm comfortable leaving open if I leave for less than an hour. Usually shut everything up if I'm gone longer than that. Mountain house leave unlocked pretty much entire time I'm there....gated community and fairly remote. We never really locked up at our house on SGI, just always felt casual there.
In this metaphor, the lock is equivalent to something more than billions of annual dollars spent on border enforcement, tens of thousands of employees, and tens of billions in infrastructure spending on border areas?
