fortunately I think all of those incidents were at UK- or was one in the swamp? They cheat more at home.
Napier can’t think that fast. He may be knowledgeable but he’s so deliberate and trying to be too precise. Let her rip but he just can’t go.
As long as it's NOT to Gainesville, I don't care one way or another about where fat Ba$s!@rd ends up.
I was too concerned seeing #75 at LG to notice, and sure enough he delivered the most decisive penalty of the game. Good Ole CBN personnel decisions.
I couldn’t block him either but trampling me would at least slow him down and maybe he would trip or something. I don’t know how you completely miss a 300 lb guy.
8 too many. That penalty really hurt us. Took us out of being able to call anything to having to pass on a compressed field with a true freshman. Cole Cubelic was right when he said it just can't happen to a player lined up beside the center.
Out of curiosity, in what areas has this team progressed? I could see defense, but, that's only been two weeks of better play.
I will give a (certainly) contrarian opinion: I take some hope from the UT game. Heavy underdogs, on the road, lot of "noise in the system". We lose QB1 and RB1. Defense stops a high-flying offense. We are a 2 pt conversion from a win. Yes, the coaching made some very visible mistakes. But credit also: coaching has kept this team together and we've played better coming out of the bye. They deserve credit for those things, as well as criticism for the others. We have 3 losses to teams ranked 6/11/14. Those teams have combined for 2 losses. We're not as terrible (including the coaching) as these threads make it seem. Below target? Sure. But nearly every post craps on the team. So here is a post that points at the other side of the scales.
You must have listened to Shane Matthews yesterday. Tons of bitching from the fan base, mostly frustration UF could not finish against UT. I'm still upset Napier did not go for the 2 points and the win with 29 seconds left. But - Shane points out thats the best play calling by a Napier coached team his entire tenure. Mistakes, sure, and UF lost, but they had a chance to actually win the game. They outgained UT. They were in the redzone more. They played great defense. While special teams is questioned, UF actually had some great returns. At least the game was not decided by the other team in the first half. I'm not advocating for Napier, just pointing out Shanes comments, which, are correct IMO. The kids played damn hard. I don't know the mental outlook of the team and they may lay another KY egg. Losing Mertz was not good for the Gators, the kid was only completing 80% of his passes, but it's DJL's gig now. Perhaps UF can climb into a win Saturday, after the ass whoopin KY put on em last year, I would run the tape on an endless locker room cycle. If the Gator defense shows up again, win #4 is quite possible. It better be, I can't imagine the noise in the system with a 4th straight loss to KY.
Let me play contrary to your contrarian. The most likely answer to your positive of covering the spread is that UTk is perhaps worse than last year, getting hypes for destroying OU, who is far worse than us. We destroyed their offense last year and did it again with the same defensive scheme. It's them not us. What keeps the team together is what is piling on the losses, lots of playing time for players who never should be on the field as they haven't earned it, creating rotation at positions (e.g. OL) that should never rotate but for injuries. We have 3 losses alrwady and none of them look like a top 5 team in the country. I see a lot of respect for the players and huge concerns over the coach. I see very little targeting of players who are playing their hearts out. Former players must be tone deaf also, because they are saying the same things.
I absolutely think we should have gone for 2, but... Even if we scored and took the lead, they could have moved into field goal range in the time left, and kicked the fg. Not beyond the realm of possibility with our D.
