UF wasn’t paying venue costs, typically one of the biggest events cost.

You are making judgments based on one piece of info; cost. Cost is dependent on who the attendees were. Is 175k cost is ok if the event raised 5MM? What if the event raised 10MM/20MM?

Quite possibly not. What is the marginal contribution of $300 per person on a party compared to $900 per party? Is there somebody out there that gave $500K because the sushi cost twice as much that would have only given $100K if it didn't?

Heck, if I am a donor to a non-profit tossing money away like that, I might be less likely to donate, not more likely, as they clearly don't need my money.

This thread is pointless. Only Liberals are expected to be fiscally responsible. Conservatives “invest” in donations and spend very wisely apparently. A total boss move. Now if a liberal did this, it would very much be wasteful because they do not know how to invest, only spend recklessly. It’s in the THFSG guidelines.

Serious question, do you ever get tired of defending the indefensible? Fuchs seems to have done well with donors spending far less.

Don’t forget the money spent at the president’s mansion.
UF adds a $300,000 pool to its president’s mansion as Ben Sasse starts work

Just catching up on this after reading a piece in the Chronicle of Higher Education.

In addition to the 176k holiday party with the 38k sushi bar, Sasse helped launch the Hamilton Center, which houses conservative-leaning initiatives (indoctrination!). Apparently, Sasse will continue to make about 1mil/year until 2028 for teaching a class at UF.

many adjuncts at Florida teach a class for less than 6k. It’s disgusting he’ll do the same thing for one million.

Well, look on the bright side, I'm sure the political hacks who hired him have learned from their mistake. (Ha!)

This is the new Floriduh. Line everyone's pockets - grift grift grift. If you love what's going on in Floriduh, you'd love a trumph presidency.

They had to get creative after DeSantis took all the insurer cash to let them screw us all over on our homeowner's insurance.

Speaking of which, my home owner's insurance will officially be more than my property taxes at the end of 2025. Thank you Ron DuhSantis
