Sankey has put out a statement saying that a unsportsmanlike call should have been made. Also said he doesn't believe it was intentional no coach should ever put his hands on an opposing player. Finished by saying it better not happen again. Screw you Kirby.

If games were decided that way, Vandy would be the gold standard in the SEC.

Noone would make it out of Nashville.

It looks like he was mad at the coach with the headset on and the player just kind of intersected with him. He probably didn’t even realize it was an opposing player. Seems like much ado about literally nothing.

If it was much ado about nothing, Sankey would not have put out his statement. Other than Woody Hayes striking a Clemson player I don't remember anything like this college football. By the way I watched that Clemson-Ohio State game. The Clemson linebacker made a game sealing pick at the OSU sideline. the kid turned and said something to the bench. Thats when Woody clotheslined him. I think it was a day or two before they fired him.

I heard about it on Josh Pate's show. He was somewhat critical. He pointed out that if the player had reacted or retaliated in any way, the situation could have blown up.

That would have been special had the kid lit him up. He would have a problem.

Maybe. Do a search on Kirby and see how many hits you get on this subject. I got more than a few and none of them mentioned gator message boards or as heard on gator podcasts. As I said before, I heard about it on a college football podcast. When you're coach of a cfb team that is in the spotlight - ya get a little extra scrutiny.

Bro better be glad this aint football from the 90s/2000s and these kids have images and money to protect. In 1980s football/90s football he would likely have drawn up a kid "if I aint call you coach I dont respect you I dont care how many rings you have" and come up swinging and gotten lit the F up.

IMO Kirby was caught up in the heat of the moment and it wasn't intentional. It wasn't a Woody Hayes.
I also agree w/ Sankey that is should have been a 15 yarder...

But as a thought experiment- imagine if Spurrier or Urban had done this- exact same circumstances.
It would lead EVERY SINGLE broadcast and be the headline on ESPN, etc.
We would never hear the end of it...

Maybe it's my Gator paranoia but it seems like they hate us.
And if our coach is winning- Katie bar the door. Every single act is scrutinized and blown out of proportion.

This looked like something you would have seen on that Netflix show about the JUCO schools. The guy at Mississippi threw hands with a ref at one point and the other coach at Indy was a wild boy. Haha

Even if Kirby meant to do it to one of his assistants, can you imagine what it's like working for him, daily? I mean where was his belt loop bodyguard, when he needed him the most? Gotta keep that dawg on a leash.

I do think the kid not reacting is Kirby's lucky break. I think Jalen Milroe might have peeled his visor clean off if this had happened against Bama. We would all be grabbing our popcorn if it really went down, bama and UGA the darlings of the conference erupt in an all time brawl.

I'm guilty. After the criticism from our Meyer days and the lack thereof for programs before that and after I am bothered by the lack of accountability asked of Smart and others by the media. Remember, Meyer was absolutely roasted for referring to Caldwells injury against Tennessee in 2005 as a "soldier down." It wasn't a passing blurb either as all of the sports media discussed it and urban even had to formaly address it. A metaphor was taken more seriously than what's going on at Georgia.

Look at McElwain and Kelvin Taylor or Mullen and James Franklin for examples of what the media would have done if it was a Florida coach. And neither of them even went hands on

Kirby was recently complaining about the lack of fan energy.. Now this. Sounds to me he is getting either frustrated or tired. Maybe time for a change of scenery for him. Don't be surprised this offseason if he goes up to the big boy league.
