Digging The Penguin (MAX). I’ve always felt the DCU has more fertile ground to plow and the deeper dive into a villain has been cool. I do indeed kinda sorta root for a despicable character (or two.)

Disclaimer (Apple) is intriguing but I’m not riveted yet. But I see how it may be building to some cool twists.

Finishing up Cuckoo, and I will say that with a half hour to go it is living up to the title. I could tell you the meaning, but you wouldn’t believe me. Let’s just say there is nothing deceptive about the title.

Finally watched S1 of Yellowjackets. Not gonna add Showtime for S2, but I do wish I had it.

Some I’ve watched recently and really enjoyed:

Blue Lights - Belfast police procedural

Vigil: Scottish detective investigates death on a British submarine while at sea - first season. Lots of twists. Second season different story.

The Capture: British soldier charged with a crime and detective starts to unravel conspiracy. Lots of twists. Very scary what people can do with high-tech.

Yosi, The Regretful Spy - based on true story from the 1980s, when an Argentine intelligence officer infiltrated the Jewish community to learn the details of their plot to take over Patagonia and turn it into a second Jewish state. No such plot existed, but the government was obsessed that it did.

Do you have some kind of premium British TV subscription?

The hurricanes gave me ample time to watch movies, so here we go:

Grave Torture (Indonesian religious horror, scary) Free on Netflix
Apartment 7A (Rosemary's Baby prequel, not amazing, but a fun watch) Free on Paramount
Red Rooms (One of my favorites of the year so far - a woman gets obsessed with a serial killer who did snuff videos online)
Caddo Lake (time travel weirdness) on HBO Max
Missing (Japanese drama about a family who loses their daughter mysteriously) On Netflix

Season 3 is coming pretty soon, so you can get both in if you add it. ;)

On a lighter note, if you enjoy dumb Florida fun & Vince Vaughn, Bad Monkey on Apple was a nice pallet cleanser. Never read any Hiason so I have no idea how it compares to the books and didnt care.

Not going to see the new Joker movie, heard it sucks. Can't wait for the Bob Dylan biopic out this Christmas.
Thanks for the heads up on Apartment 7A, I've been meaning to check that one out.

Yeah, I will definitely see the Dylan movie, and almost any Dylan related movie. Same director as Walk the Line, which is a pretty solid music biopic.

You’re missing out. Hiasson’s books are laugh out loud fun reads; one of my favorites. And I loved Bad Monkey, both the book and the series.

The Diplomat on Netflix is great starring Felicity. Season 2 premieres this Halloween.

It's October so these are all brand new or newer scary-ish thrillers.

    Caddo Lake
was solid but I can see some folks not liking. My wife couldnt follow it but she pays little attention to movies.

Strange Darling - Serial killer movie turned on its head presented in 6 parts out of order - 6th part is the end though making it easy to follow.

Azrael - Almost no dialogue as it is a woman on the run in the woods from seemingly killers or captors.

Oddity - Opens at an isolated home in the woods at night with a weird looking dude telling a woman to get out of the house because he saw someone run in there when she wasnt looking.. what does she do? Rest of the movie is the aftermath. Really creepy.

Trap - Capturing a serial killer at a concert. A bit silly but I liked it.

Thanks for asking. Sometimes I forget I have those extra channels.

Blue Lights is on BritBox or you could buy it from Amazon Prime

    Vigil is on Peacock.

The Capture is on Peacock or you can buy it from Prime.

    Yosi is on Prime.

Is that the M. Night Shama-lama-ding-dong movie? Where the guy is tricked into going to a concert with his daughter?

Yeah. Hard disagree on the previous recommendation. And I am desperate for MNS to snap out of it.

The Lake Caddo reveal, I believe, is supposed to make me go Awwww, but instead made me go Eeewww!!! But the sci-fi part was solid.

    Also liked Oddity.

Things Will Be Different is a pretty cool low budget sci-fi.

prob already mentioned upthread. I just watched One Cut of the Dead. I thought it was pretty damn cool. It has a 37 min continuous scene shot with a single handheld camera.
