I'll say it again: this academics v. athletics narrative is complete rubbish. Comparing a large public university to a small, private Ivy league school is also dumb.

We invested heavily in facilities, in Napier and his "process". "Academics" did not stand in the way one bit.

We aren't losing due to being a respected academic institution.

 

You are several standard deviations below the mean as far as I can tell.

We may be losing because our highly respected educational institution has neglected to put the proper effort into football for a couple decades. Napier has had the best shot, but I think we’ve kind of went cheap on hiring coaches the last four in a row along with many other drop ball in our football program. It seems we’re finally headed in the right direction but we might have to hire three or four more coaches before we find the right guy. At least go after some high profile candidates as best we can.

 

So's Urban and Saban. What's your point?

 

@gtr2x use your words buddy. What part of what I wrote has you disagreeing? You want a coach that would openly flirt with another conference school or you want a coach that is trolling during the season? Which trait is admirable?
