I believe it will leak eventually that he refused to take staff input soon enough. He might be now, on some issues, but probably not offense. Hubris or low football IQ?

Sometimes those two words can be interchangeable. But I have to say that I don't think Napier is unintelligent even in football... he's just ridiculously stubborn... hubris.

He thought his way would work for any situation... forever. And that's never the case in coaching college football. The best coaches innovate, and that means that they evolve and they grow.

He should have stuck with the Emory & Henry play that he looked like he was calling for 2 points... and the win.

I don’t get the hate and hostility. The man simply bit off more than he could chew. He didn’t go into this with the idea of scamming anybody — he just got in over his head. He needs to go, but he’s not as evil as some of y’all want to make him out to be

The Board of Regents (or whatever they are called now) and Florida administration, have always put a priority on UF being a top shelf academic institution--the state's flagship university. You can do both that and support athletics at the same time.

Do you really think that the BOR, UF's presidents, and other administration folks, don't understand that being successful in football and other sports generates support and $$ for the university, in areas outside of just athletics? Of course they do, and they want that.

Florida was ascending fairly rapidly in academics in the 1990's when Spurrier was here, and even more so in the 2000's when Meyer was here. We won three Natty's and rampaged through the SEC. "Academics" didn't stop them from winning championships.

This. Our schedule looked daunting pre-season, but every SEC team but Texas has a loss. The Gumps, Mutts, Corndogs and Dollies are all beatable. Gumps and Mutts especially have fallen off.

I believe we could have played for the SEC championship this year if our coach didn't have the in game IQ of a newt that accidentally swallowed a quaalude.

I would be willing to bet he avoided and disregarded advice. Is it possible with all that was riding on this season his boss had not talked to him, sanity checked what was supposed to be happening off season and Spring? I don't know. It's just hard to believe we got here.

Funny, most people said DM was the perfect fit here the second he stepped off the plane doing the Gator chomp with the two Gator Natties under his belt.

I wonder how much Stricklin's buyout is because I would like to see that option exercised.

I agree 100 percent. Not only that (and being prepared to be castigated with some hate speech) virtually every student comes here to get an education. We are an academic institution with a football program not a football program with an institution.
Anticipating great negative feedback, let me be clear. I have been a Gator for 60 years, love Gator football and have an undergraduate and a law degree. The legal education I received at UF has served me well for 50 years.

We all applaud the educational system, but we go to football games. They are too completely separate identities and should not even be run by the same people because it is not their expertise.

Until the players are no longer going to classes, they are students and fall under the educational side...

That will probably change as college football moves more towards NFL sub-league status.

They and only they fall under both sides. Students are students and athletes are both sort of, but not really because some of them are dumb as a rock
