The top teams usually have a mentality to attack and force the opposition to make the play. Throwing 3 yards short or running on 3rd and long doesn't do that. Attack downfield and make the defense do the work or catch a penalty. We take away so much of the stress from a defense by doing half their job and not attacking the sticks. It's exhausting to watch over and over.
The ultra low expectations are due to Napier. He doesn’t get kudos for lowering the bar so far and then being able to clear it
Glad you put that in quotes because I saw nothing respectable about that loss. All I saw was continued incompetence by the head man.
Yeah, I dont know any of "those" people personally. I'm just going on how I would spend my money if my money mattered. No way I'd give a dime if it meant Stricklin was in any way involved. Maybe those people will behave differently.
Between the sandspurs growing up and raising two boys the soles of my feet are impervious to mere plastic building blocks.
We're staring down 15 and closing in on 20 years of mediocrity save for maybe 2-3 really good teams in since Meyer left. With a new regime I'm not optimistic things turn around year 1 and will need another few years after their appointment. The Meyer era began almost 20 years ago to the day. This feels bigger than an athletic director or head coaching change. Perhaps the overall directive of the University is to obtain research grant funding. That's been obvious for the past decade or so. I just wonder if that is more financially lucrative to the University as a whole vs football revenue.
I didn't say a Dan Mullen clone. Kiffin has at least Mullen's skill set as a coach, loves to recruit and if he wants to impress the NFL while in Gainesville, I'm all for it. But you should remember he's already tasted the NFL and by now has likely come to grips with college is where he needs to be and excels.
Michigan, OU, Texas say hi! Both can be done, it just requires solid vision from top down. I don’t think we’ve had that. I do think a winning football program can help the other.
With the portal, NIL and current talent someone like Lane could come in and post a winning record in year 1. I don’t think it’s a 5 year process anymore. Plus Florida is already a hotbed for recruiting- the state that is.
