My question would be did Napier lose the team this weekend or are they still all in? If all in, should beat Kentucky. If they are sideways, well….
Wondering that too. Clay Millen was 3rd in line in Spring Game and played a few snaps. He has starting experience at Colorado State. But Aiden Warner was listed as 3rd option at start of season. Think he might even taken a few snaps against Samford. Don’t know if Millen is hurt or Warner just looked better in practice. Warner is listed as a Freshman but was at Yale last year.
The defense Uk employs on most downs in the Stoops era is designed to stop offenses like Billy’s. That is why he has struggled mightily on offense vs UK. Whether with an elite talent at qb like AR or a game manager like Mertz, playing 12 personnel and side to side game with shirt passes and zone runs falls right into line with what UK is good at stopping. Makes it easy on Stoops. In order for Uf to score enough to win, Napier would need to go outside of his standard offensive plan. Which in 2.5 seasons he has done just one time (Tenn in 2022). Sadly, I think we lose unless our defense utterly dominates UK- including scoring a td or giving us multiple very short fields. Napier has shown he isn’t capable of calling a game tactically on offense and we will get more of “my stuff can work against any defense” even if it is sub optimal .
Gonna be tough winning without Mertz and probably Montrell. Would have been hard with them. Saturdays game with Tenn could not have ended worse. It’s a nightmare
I just don’t trust Stoops knowing we are down Mertz. I still think that ankle twist to AR was intentional and prescribed. I am curious to see how Lagway does in full command. Is it just me or does it seem like his first series always starts around our 10 yard line?
Just watched the Monday presser, CBN announced Warner as the backup to DJ. Is Clay Millen injured or did I miss something?
Well, the nightmare is over if Napier generates a third consecutive inexcusable loss to Kentucky. I truly believe that would be his last game as head coach at Florida, or any other major program, if he can’t close here. I think he’s done after this season regardless of what happens this Saturday, but a win gives him a chance to finish the season and market himself back to the non-Power-4 ADs.
They will be all in. Players made mistakes that cost the game also. Hopefully we have warriors instead of finger pointers.
