How does Kirby get away with shoving the Miss. State freshman QB (who played a great game) on an out of bounds sideline altercation. The MSU player did nothing wrong nor did he appear to have said anything to anyone on the GA sideline. What would happen to Billy if he had done that to Nico in Neyland last night? It was 4 feet from an SEC official who had to have seen the whole thing. I remember Woddy Hayes was fired by OSU for the same thing against Clemson. The SEC is every bit as guilty as the ACC of protecting certain teams the conference favors.
Woody finally got fired it, but that was the 4th time he had done that when he was at THE osu. Not endorsing that kind of behavior in any way, but unlike Billy, he was passionate about it. Billy can't fire up something flammable.
I didn't see it so I don't know about Kirby. Woody Hayes went onto the field and gave the guy a throat punch. He was wanting to do more than push him.
Mr. bowl cut needs a dressing down for this, if not more. He clearly shoved a player just standing there
Not à good look for Kirby and UGA. I'm sure they are not going to do anything about it since Texas is their next opponent.
Muschamp was all hair on fire and look what good it did us. On the other hand, Tom Landry was about as deadpan as you can get and still won Super Bowls.
I see a fine coming from the SEC. NFL fined Philadelphia Eagles' Dom DiSandro $100,000 after his altercation with SF 49ers Dre Greenlaw.
NCAA won’t. SEC won’t. UGA officials Won’t. Highly doubtful media will bring it to light. Best thing could happen is the Mississippi State University officials file a lawsuit for assault. Lot of lawsuits out there more frivolous than that and at least it might draw some attention to the cesspool that is the UGA football program.
Nah. He was focused on going to yell at his assistant. The MSU player just happened to get in the way. Not a good look as far as awareness goes (heck, we're talking about a guy that has to designate someone to keep him from the playing field) but I don't think there was anything intentional against the MSU player.
Props to Van Buren Jr. for not reacting there, impressive composure. Though I wish he did react; because things didn't escalate the SEC will look the other way instead of standing up to one of their sacred cows. If Kirby ended up in a physical back and forth with Van Buren (that Kirby initiated) the SEC's hand may have been forced.
