I can only speak for myself. I wasn't an arrogant UF fan. There was nothing to brag about. When UF finally won the SEC in 84 & 85 they stripped. I remember a late sports talk radio host talking about how shameful it was for UF to put "84 & 85 SEC Champs" in the stadium.
This is just a weak thread to begin with. OP, who cares if we "faked" an injury. Ever stubbed your toe or banged your shin on a table? Did you have to go to the hospital or after about two minutes you were good? Hurt like hell for a minute didn't it?
To be fair that was a while back. Like in the 90s. Spurrier was just building our national relevance.
I might me in the minority, but faking an injury evens the field to allow us to substitute. I think the offfense Tennessee runs is equal to faking an injury. Both are within the rules and both should not be allowed.
It was Den Jenkins long before Pell arrived. And in the last 15 years, we are more like Wake Forest than the SOS/Meyer years. Yet the arrogance remains... And if memory serves, Florida had the "arrogance of Notre Dame with the trophy case of Wake Forest..."
If you are not prepared to fake an injury when a hurry up offense is pushing the ball down your throat, you are a not trying. I will never understand the mentality that is content to watch it happen in effort to be a classy loser.
Yeah that was before Spurrier and the writers who supposedly covered the Gators enjoyed mocking them in public writing. Sounds like Jacksonville writers pre1990. Oh we can piss and moan …but they can go jump off the Mathews bridge.
Like I wrote earlier I don't have a problem with the fake in today's game. You're not going to stub your toe then hit the deck and lay prone for 60 seconds until the trainers hold your hand and walk you off the field. The reason for the post was to put to rest the notion that the gators are above such things.
