Mertz's lower body injury may mean we win only 2 more games this year.

Who knows what "Lower Body Injury" means.

It would appear CBN has added a new level to coach speak?

Tough loss, hopefully you guys can beat Georgia because they are not that strong this year either. It doesn’t seem like there is a truly dominant team in the conference this year.

I know that overall this has been a disappointing year for you guys, but hey, at least you are not Florida State :)

I'd take him. It’s not like it could be any worse than what we have now.

Agree, because I don’t think we would have made it. It’s not like we were going to line up and mash it over the tackle. A QB sneak wouldn’t have either. The odds of us converting the two was very low.

Great point! It was a horrific call even the tv announcers spoke of. I have not seen this mentioned on here but I could have missed it.

Yeah but playing OT was a guaranteed loss. The coin flip is everything. Tennessee knew the moment they won the toss, they won the game. I'd take my chance with a 2pt play because like I said earlier, it's in our hands to win or lose the game. Defenses that know the game comes down to that one play tend to make mistakes.

I still think Tebow is not an insane choice for HBC. Zero coaching experience aside, there is no better leader. He knows what it takes to win at the highest level, he bleeds Orange and Blue and he would create so much excitement in the program, could recruit like a madman and just needs to be the CEO and bring in a top OC and DC.

The big question is - would he want the job?

Then come up with something special and run it. I would have rather gone for 2 and not made it then have to deal with the pain of what happened in OT. I saw it coming from a mile away.

Watching and waiting for how we were going to give the game away.

You get stopped for a loss on 1st down so you run into the teeth of the defense on 2nd down so you can set up 3rd and long for your freshman inexperienced QB. Defense brings the house and his only option is to dump the ball off to a back who gets tackled for a loss.

Is that the kind of play calling that allowed him so much success in Louisiana?

Were the odds of running multiple successful plays from the 25 to score better than running 1 play from the 3- combined with the odds of stopping Tennessee from scoring from inside the 25 vs stopping Tennessee from scoring from 75 yards away in only 29 seconds?

From what I've seen from uga ole miss, ky and LSU, there is no reason we couldn't beat any or all of them with mertz. I feel a bit less confident with Lagway just because it is a steep curve for him. Texas is the only team that I'd say we can't beat.

  16. You can have scared money and still win...Unfortunately, we have 'dumb' money which only buys losses.

This game was the epitome of CBN's career to date.

Before we get into it, I actually didn't mind the jet sweep on 4th down. Definitely didn't like the result, but when it got handed off to EW3 I thought it was smart. UT defender did a helluva job on that one. I know I'm in the minority on this...

As for going for 2... did it really matter? No way we would have gotten it. Chances are we would have had a late play call come into DJL's headset because the coaching staff was trying to overanalyze the situation. Then we would have lined up late with the play clock running down, then we would have gotten a pre-snap penalty pushing us back 5 yards. Then, in the confusion of whether or not we are still going for 2, CBN decides to just kick the extra point for OT... but in that confusion we miss the kick and UT wins by 1. Tell me I'm wrong...

I think Billy will be a good coach someday, but it's going to be a while, and not at UF. You can see certain aspects of this team getting better, and playing more like a team. However there is one thing that hasn't happened yet: Billy Napier can't get out of his own damn way!

I try to be objective when looking at things, and when you look at all our dumb penalties and miscues on paper they don't look that bad (i.e, every team has about the same amount). However when you look at them in context they are HORRIBLE! Its like he plays the game as if there is never going to be bad plays or mis-steps, and then when one happens, they just build on each other. I really can't explain it in words. Basically, he coaches to where any mistake is huge instead of coaching around them? Does that make sense? I don't know.... I'm so frustrated right now... REALLY would have loved to get a win last night after the week I had.

yes, you can be both fearless AND stupid. In fact, it's not that uncommon.
